  • Possibility that I am pregnant.....

    There is a possiblitiy that I could be pregnant. I don't have regular period, so I won't know for probably a couple of weeks.

    My question is what changes should I make in my diet?

    I basically eat vegetables and meat. My normal breakfast is a couple eggs and sausage- and decaf iced coffee from starbucks (with sugar free syrup and heavy whipping cream). Lunch is usually a meat and vegetable (mainly chicken breast and serving of green beans). Then at night I eat a huge salad and some meat.

    I snack on nuts and sometimes have low carb ice cream.

    I take a senoirs multi-vitamin and b-complex with extra folic acid and a calcium supplement everyday.

    Should I be worried about eating this way the first month or so while I am pregnant? My fear is that I will find out I am pregnant and spend the whole time worrying if the baby is ok because of my diet.

    Also, I have not lost any weight since Christmas- the scale has stayed the same. I have not been working out regularly although I have started back this week.

    Does anyone have any advice????

    If you are pregnant you need to move to lifetime maintenance phase. Others may argue but Dr. A himself did not feel any weight loss phase of Atkins was appropriate for pregnant or nursing mothers. You know there are tests out their now that can be taken prior to the first day of your missed period.

      congrats to you. yep go test and see so you can be feeding that baby in your maintenance phase and giving it all the ketones for its brain development and not you buring them for fuel Bet you didn't know ketones are needed for building brain tissue did you?

        and you can get prenatal vitamins at Walmart pretty cheap. I would start prenatals just in case to increase your folic acid intake.

          As an update. I took a pregnancy test but it said negative. I still have not had my TOM. (Although I have been feeling pretty moody- so it may be coming.) I am making an appointment with the doctor just in case.

          The thought of having a baby is exciting. My hustband and I have decided that if I am not preganant that we are going to start trying after another 6 months of weight loss. It is a great goal!!!!

                You have a great attitude! BTW, I always got pregnant after a significant weight loss! So maybe it will work for you too.

                  glad you are seeing your doc before you get preg to make sure everything is in order. Please tell the doc you are doing Atkins and you plan to get preg in 6 months so you can do any thing needed for your health and the baboies health.
