  • HELP! I need some much needed advice....

I started induction a week ago and just found out that I am pregnant. I have been reading the book about maintenance and I am confused. How do I jump from induction to maintenance? I remember reading something about your carb level (CCL) and without following through, how do I find that number and know what I need to be eating? Do I just eat off all of the rungs or do I need to follow something special?

Please help...I feel so lost (but that could be pregnancy brain)! I truly appreciate any advice that can be given to me.

Congratulations on your pregnancy! Even though I am a guy and I am very excited for you. Based on reading DANDR, my advice would be to talk to you physician about nutritional requirements especially early into your term. As you may very well know, your baby requires all the necessary nutrients early into his/her development.

I know that was not your specific question but talk to your physician about your choice for this WOL. That way any developmental nutrition needed in the early stages can be properly supplemented.

Another point is that based on my reading of Dr. Atkins book, the ultimate goal is to rid our diet of the food items that are making us unhealthy. Since we are all different and have different metabolisms, the Critical Carb Level forces us to find out how our bodies respond to various foods. When you go through the rungs and the 5g of carbs increments, you can easily see what impact each food item has on your body.

I hope my input has aided you in your new endeavor. I wish you extreme success. Also, I am interested to know how the Atkins WOL can be successfully accomplished during pregnancy.
