  • OK SO.......

I thought I was going to be pregnant this month but I took a test and it is negative. My cycle is between 33-38 days and it is only 31 days right now so there is still a chance but with a negative pregnancy test it doesn't look good.

My question is how many carbs do I eat to stay out of ketosis? If we decided to try again next month I want to be able to stay out of ketosis just is case but still do low carb. Is there a average number to eat to keep out of ketosis?

Not sure what I am going to do yet if I am not because I didn't really want to have a baby at Christmas time and that is about when I would be due if I try again next month. I thought for sure I would get pregnant this month. I guess there is still a shot since I am not even really due for my period yet. Its hard with an irreglar cycle and we "tried" everyday for three weeks to make sure we hit the target. Very frustrating but if this takes a few months I want to lose weight in the meantime but not be in ketosis just in case I get pregnant.

Are you doing OWL or PreMaintenance? Do you have any clue on how many carbs you can eat to maintain your weight? I can eat about 70 carbs a day it seems to maintain my weight. It makes it easier to plan my menu knowing how many carbs I can eat.

actually why do you want to be out of ketosis? DId you know ketones are the precursor molecules for featal brain tissue so you better have some handy.

The weight loss phases of Atkins are what you ned to be avoiding during pregnancy as you should be avoiding any weight loss program during preg unless your doc directs you to do so. The human body will sacrifiec the fetus if it things there isn't going to be enough calories for the mother and that is the reason behind it.

The term doctors use is ketoacidosis as the dangerous phase to be in something you are not on on Atkins and one of the reasons Dr Atkins changed his termology from ketosis to lipsos sp? in his later books sp as not to confuse folk. But when an Atkineer discusses ketossi all they are discussing it the burning of fats for fuel something every human being on earth not hooked up to a feeding machine does every day of their lives while they are sleeping.

Please make sure you are taking your prenatal vits as that is something the baby needs before you know you are preg and the damage from missing some key ones of those is already done and not reversible no matter how healthy you eat the rest of your preg.

oh ok I got confused then. I have read other pregnancy posts from you 2big and thought you were saying that being in ketosis is bad for the baby brain. I must have read these things wrong.

Also Dawn I was still on Induction when all this started so I don't know what level will keep me from losing yet.

if you know how many pounds you lost during induxctions first 14 days and the total number of pounds you wanted to lose you can use the charts in your DANDR to see where your CCLL should be and then eat just above that.

no we don't want you eating up all the ketones when you are preg and you will be doing a lot of that when ibn they weight loss phase. you want that baby to have as many ketones as it needs cause while you got a life time to get smaller you only get one chance to get that baby develloped right.

Actually many folk that have PCOS need to be on low carb while trying to conceive cause insulin levels effect estrogen levels and the other female hormones so you might be abloe to inprove your chances by staying with your low carb program till you know.

I was on Induction when I got pregnant, and in ketosis. I went right to maintenance with the help of 2big, and Lynne, and Nurselady as soon as I found out. (funny I needed help with maintenance, but I had been in induction for so long I didn't know how to eat maintenance wise!)

2big has never steered me wrong, so listen to what she says.
