I found it impossible after the birth of twins 3yrs ago to do anything. You definately can not nurse and do atkins, I fainted on day 3 twice!!! I am just getting time to think of me and they were 3 in June!!!! Maybe a lot of raw veggies so you can just grab them from the fridge? Good luck.

It says in Dr. Atkins' book that it is unsafe to do any level of Atkins besides Maitenance while pregnant or nursing. Ketosis is especially dangerous for your baby. I would follow Dr. Atkins' advice on this one. PLEASE talk to you doctor/pediatrician about what a proper diet for you should be especially if you're nursing. The weightloss can weight if it's going to put your baby at risk. That's my feeling on it. Everytime I knew that I was pregnant or when I was nursing my baby I immediately stopped Atkins (stayed on Maintenance).. To me the health of my baby was not worth losing a few pounds.

Congrats on your baby! I just had my first (a boy) 8/27 I re-started Atkins 9/14. I wasn't nursing by that time which is why I decided to go ahead and start. I agree with previous posters - talk to your ped if you are nursing.

I buy frozen, steam in the bag veggies. They taste great and you have your veggies in 5 minutes. Literally, take the bag from the freezer and put it in the microwave! There are no preservatives or additives either. I also do fresh veggies using the Zip n Steam bags. Just take your vegetable of choice from the fridge, wash it, put it in the bag and microwave. Perfectly steamed vegetables in a few minutes. It doesn't taste like microwaved food whatsoever.

I buy the packaged salad too. I think it's called Ready Pac (or Pack). It's just different kinds of lettuce in a bag. Super easy to measure out for a quick salad. Again, it's only lettuce. No need to worry about anything "hidden" in there (just don't buy the kind with carrot slices).

          Good luck!
