I figured it would be good for me to have some whole grain cereals to eat with my baby. The only whole grain cereal I could find that didn't have added sugar was Grape nuts.... it has 47 grams in a half cup serving. I'm having a REALLY hard time putting my head around eating 47 grams at one time...

Am I right to be concerned ? Or will eating that be just fine?

eating it while you are pregnant or as part of your after baby weight l;oss?

Dr Atkins recommends whole oats, and all bran as cereals in the weight loss phases andf adds the unsweetened whole grain flakes in the later stages. he said to eat sparingly the pufed rice and wheat type cereals. Next time you are in the lib pick up a copy of Atkins for life.

Also follow the links in the other preg topics back to the Atkins site the poster was a preg dietician doing Atkins maintnenance while carrying healthy twin boys and she has a whole list of foods she eat for you to get some ideas. she also had a list of foods to avoid during preg.

    How was the doc visit?

I've been eating the Atkins Blueberry/Almond cereal which I looooove! I have to get it a Super Walmart because every other store wants to charge five bucks for a box of it and I can get it for three and some change and Super Walmart. I've also been using the carb option milk and I love it too. It has extra protien added and less fat than regular milk.

2big, I have a question for you. I love flax cereal (you know homemade with cream and splenda) but I was reading the container and it said if pregnant or nursing consult your physician before using this product. Any idea why? I haven't touched it since then.

      Thanks!

Doc visit was good. I was nervous so my blood presure was high, so the doc wants me to watch my blood pressure closely and see her immediately if it gets to 160/90. She said that will be the main concern during my pregnancy because of my weight.

She is glad I want to exercise and says sticking with my WATP is a great idea with up to 5 pound weights.

So, now its just a matter of time... DBF and I have a lot to do. We both are concerned because family keeps bugging us about marriage, and while we both wanted to get married anyway (eventually), we both feel like we don't want the baby to be the reason to get married. We want to get married when we're ready, not when something in life makes it "necessary"

Well as we know flax has lots of compound we need bu tit also has some compounds that can be harmful to developing babies.

phytoestrogens has been shown to cause a penis birth defect in bay boys and flax has it

flax has a compound in it that has trace levels of cyanogenic glycosides. Don't panic that compouns is in many mnay foods both Atkineers and high carbers eat and is a big part of vit B12 but it degrades to thiocyanate and that is a goitrogen which means it interfers with thyroid function any hypothyriod in a developing fetus will cause birth defects too.

so they warn you and since you talk with your doc and your doc knows she or he will keep looking at your levels more closely then if you were not comsuming those foods.

There are absolutly no known reports of cynanide poisoning from eating flax seeds
