  • Possibly pregnant, safe to stay on induction?

I have a question...If i'm not sure if i'm pregnant is it safe to stay on induction?

I really dont wanna get off and find out i'm not and have everything i've worked for be for nothing. My period is almost 7 days late(tmrw will be 7) and I've got a lot of the signs, extreme fatigue, frequent urination, weird cravings and always hungry, nausea, bad mood swings, lower back pains. I took a test the day after i missed my period and it was negative. I'm going to wait a week to take another one because everyone says my hcg levels would be too low. My boyfriend and i did have sex on the days that i was ovulating too so that would help. But anyway what do y'all think?

as per the book, pregnant women should not do any phase of Atkins except for maintenance. to be on the safe side, i would jump to the maintenance levels and
keep away from the bad carbs

Everyone is incorrect. That is not how home pregnancy tests (HPTs) work. With modern HPTs you can test before you miss your period and get accurate results, never mind a week late. If you take a test today, and it is negative, you are not pregnant. With a period that late, you don't even need to use first morning urine.

Trust me here, I have peed on more sticks than you've had hot dinners! And if you don't trust me, read the website of any major manufacturer like Clear Blue Easy or First Response.

And if you don't believe that, go to your doctor for a blood test. It takes 5 minutes. And it actually isn't more reliable (the consumer pee tests are very reliable indeed) but it may make you feel better if you have doubts.

How very interesting... even though, at 55, it's knowledge I'm too old to put to use any more

By the way, for all of you amused by this, here is everything you could want to know about pregnancy tests in the US market: PeeOnaStick.com.

PS: By "everyone is incorrect" I didn't mean everyone in this thread. I meant the "everyone" in texasbaby's real life world telling her that her HCG levels would be too low to test. Just didn't want y'all to think I was snarking the thread

Not that I would never snark a thread...

Re: Possibly pregnant, safe to stay on induction?

I love peeonastick website! However, I know many woman who have taken negative pregnancy tests AFTER their period was due. In some woman, the hcg levels are not high enough to show up until much later.

Every body is different, and not text book.

Re: Possibly pregnant, safe to stay on induction?

I know when I was pregnant with my first child, my hcg levels were too low to be detected by peeing on a stick or even a blood test by a dr until I was 9 weeks along. I would pee on those sticks every week and after my period was 3 weeks late I went to the dr and still the blood test showed negative. As soon as I finally got a test to show positive I was 9 weeks along according to ultrasound. So even those home tests aren't always accurate no matter what the website or books say. Sorry I just wanted to add that because everyone is different and not everyone has levels that will register early. I would go with your gut until your period arrives or until you get a positive test. I do agree with jimmie I would switch to maintenance until you know for sure and then you could always go back to induction if you are not. Much safer for you and your little one. I hope it turns out the way you want it to.
