I just wanted to post here so you don't think I have abandoned this place. I am having terrible morning sickness this time around. Pretty much don't know whether to throw up or lay down. Went to the Dr. last week and this is pretty normal even to have lost 6 lbs she said. They has me on a few medications that didn't really work so she said the best thing to do was just wait it out..oh really I am thinking..I can barely function as is and I am going to wait it out..lol..well what can you do..next appt will be the heartbeat can't wait for that and hope by then this terrible morning sickness will leave. My stomach is so sensitive to everything..smell, movement, loud noise, you name it it happens..so I have been spending most of my days trying to work at home which hasn't been very successful or sleeping..I feel bad for our 4 year old he just doesn't have a clue..but hopefully this too shall pass..hope to be back soon...

Dealing with morning sickness:
-Try the "salty and sweet" approach. pretzels and lemonade, or potoato chips and cola. Once you can eat these things and you feel better, you can go on to eat more nutritious things.
-Eat every 2 hours
-Combine protein with carbs (peanut butter and apples)
-Don't make yourself eat things that you normally like, but just can't stomach now.
-Eat lots of dairy products if they stay down well
Also, you can ask your doctor about Zofran and Phenergan... anti nausea drugs to see if they help. Also Vitamin B6 and ginger seem to help. There is a name for the condition when it is severe, but I can't think of the name for it right now.
Dawn
-Eat popsicles for breakfast if you are going to puke anyway--at least it is better than dry heaves
-Set your alarm for the middle of the night--2:00 am and eat a bowl of cereal or milk and crackers
-Eat dry toast or crackers before rising from bed in the morning
-Keep a queasiness diary to find out what works well and not so well.
-Eliminate odors that make nausea worse
-Sip ginger tea made from a finely diced knuckle size piece of ginger steeped in a mug of water--add brown sugar
-Try acupressure--anti-nausea wrist bands called Sea Bands in pharmacies or health food stores
Okay, for increasing calories and weight gain she suggests using nutritional supplements, which are specially formulated beverages and puddings. There are 3 types:
-Regular supplements--provide 1/3 to 2/3 more calories than milk and include things like Sweet Success, Boost, Sustacal, Ensure, Resource
-High calorie or high protien supplements--which contain twice as much protien and 4 times as many carbs as a glass of whole milk an dinclude things like Sucatal pudding, Ensure pudding, Ensure plus, Ensure Plus HN, ReSource Plus
-High calorie and high protien supplements--which will improve nutritional status the most quickly. You many have to order them from the manufacturer through a pharmacy. There are only 2 kinds listed--Deliver2.0 and TwoCal HN. Sometimes insurance will pay for these.

ouch hope you are better soon. Having been intestinal ill this past 4 days i can understand that this will pass not sufficing when you are laid up and running to the bathroom all the time.
When you try to explain to your 4 yr old make sure you don't say the new baby is... or the poor kid may thing the new to come kid is hurting mommy and recent the babby when the kid arrives. Kids at that age are still real literal in what you say.
My dad had a war on his hands when he told us the new baby was our baby and my mother tried to take her to feed her when my little sister came home from the hospital.by the book atkinseer

Dawn thanks for the suggestions I will give anything a try..I was put on the medication..pill form..threw it back up and suppoitory..didn't work..so as I wait this out..I will keep these suggestions at hand. Most of them I have tried with no avail..but..seems like it doesn't matter what it is I eat..it comes back up later..lol..dr said just keep up with the fluid and in a few more weeks things should be better..funny how they can just tell you that but they don't have to walk in your shoes..lolValerie - f 4' 11"
