  • 24 weeks- trying to re-figure it out :-)

    Hi there!
I'm 24 weeks (today). I lost 25 pounds last year, planning on reaching 150 before trying to get pregnant. I got down to 172 and decided not to wait. My loss stalled and I got frustrated and tired of waiting. :sarcasm

I stopped doing low carb and went willy nilly for months! :confused I have gained 18 pounds so far. Not too bad I guess when with my last 2 kids I gained over 45 pounds each. I happened to find Atkins for Life Kit on clearance this week and picked it up. (Before I stayed Induction or close to it so I'm not as familiar with Maintenence.)

I haven't actually started back on Atkins per se, mostly due to the fact that I can't afford the groceries right now, :no . I have however (starting today) cut out all the junk food and ate as close to low(er) carb as possible. I have managed to pick up a few thngs here and there. Some l/c OJ (cause I love it anyway) and wraps. Though I have to eat what was here. I did ok with the peanuts, l/c wrap, sausage, cheese, hamburger, strawberries, but was craving cereal and the only thing here was Cap'n Crunch!!!! Oh how I love the Cap'n!!!!!

Wasn't much for the veggies today (had PLANNED on fixing asparagus for the first time ever (um...yuck? urplequ: ) but just didn't want it and my son ate the last of the fruit!

How does this sound for tomorrow (keep in mind I have to eat what's here already) ....

Breakfast- eggs and chesse with l/c oj
Snack- 1/2 light wheat English Muffin (7 carbs) w/Simply Jif & skim milk
Lunch- l/c wrap, deli sliced turkey and chicken and cheese, lettuce and mayo
Snack- l/c OJ and string cheese
Supper- leftover hamburger with cheese, mayo, asparagus w/ olive oil?, salad with cheese and sliced deli turkey and ranch dressing and cukes in vinegar

Any suggestions? Is this too low you think. The problem is, most of the stuff I have here is like super crap. :confused Chef Boy R Dee stuff and ramen noodle soup, pancakes (though I do have sugar free syrup), cambells soups, and potatoes. I'm gona have to get by this week before I can get any decent groceries in here. Though hopefully I can get some more fruit because my son loves it so much (me too) [/b]

    Micky, first off congrats!

Second off I understand about paying big bucks for low carb stuff. I have four kids and one on the way and we are a single family income. Atkins has actually become cheaper for us because we all eat the same thing and I stay away from the low carb foods that are so pricey... with the example of low carb bread by Pepperidge Farms and low carb tortillas.

Thirdly, your menu sounds a little light. You need to find out what your carb count is to maintain your weight loss. I eat in upwards to 80 carbs a day to ensure my baby receives the right nutrients and because my baby needs all the ketones it can get.

Finally, exercise is also important and getting your water in. Finally, make sure you are taking your prenatals. Losing weight right now should not be your objective. Providing the right nutrients for you and your baby and make yourself as healthy as possible is what is important right now.

    congrats again!

yep you look too low carb to be mantainence which is were preg folk want to be eating healthy whole foods. you can skip the low carb stuf and just go with the whole grain non sugared stuff in the store many companines have added fibere breads out there that are lower carb too.

Talk with your doc about a sensible eating plan without that junk food and adding in the veggies and fruits legumes and grains of Atkins. PLain old fashioned Oat meal is cheap and an AFL food too. read that book and understand the 4th phase is where you want to be eating all those foods on the charts. from your Atkins induction you should know your CCL and make sure you are over that amount daily.
