  • Anyone doing a baby registry?

I went and signed up for 2 baby registries with this pregnancy since I have NOTHING for the baby. One at Walmart and one at the Baby Store. The main reason I did is so my family would have a clue to what I need and they plan on having a shower for me in September when they get here for my graduation.

I felt guilty for picking a crib and some of the more expensive items, but after I find out the sex I'll add more inexpensive items.

Is anyone else doing a baby registry? Have you already picked out the theme for the nursery?

If it's a girl I'm doing a butterfly, dragon fly, girlie type thing with a painted mural on the wall and bird houses i've collected on the walls. If its a boy I'm doing somthing more "transportation wise" like race cars or trucks... something along that line.

I registered at Wal-Mart and Baby's R Us. I'm doing a pastelish green color with Winnie the Pooh for my baby, boy or girl. I feel bad about all the expensive items on the registry too, but DBF's mom insisted on the crib and matress going on there. She didn't have a crib for DBF and his sister when they were babies, so she promised both of them she would buy the crib for their first children....sooo that's one expensive item we won't have to worry about.

I want to do cherry wood for my furniture. The sage green color and then the bedding, lamps, and accesores in pooh. I'm going sage green for my stroller car seat and high chairs too. I was going pooh in those, but i didn't like the quality of the pooh items, so I found something I liked better.

I know a lot of people who have said that same thing about feeling bad registering for big items. I at first did myself until I thought about all the showers I have been to and how I usually ended up pitching in for a gift with a few others. I registered for all my big stuff (crib & dresser we split the cost with MIL) and I ended up getting everything I needed.

Don't feel bad. Register for what you need. If people can't afford it they won't buy it. A lot of people will pitch in together and I bet you both get more big items then you think.
