  • Odd blood test question...

Ok - from the start you all know this is an odd post...

I will try to make it fit in a nutshell.

Monday I went to our local dental school & had two teeth pulled. A wisdom tooth & another one that had broken off at the gum.

I get a phone call today from a gal there at the school - apparently one of the students cut himself on an instrument that had been used in my mouth. They are asking that I come in for a blood test so that this student can feel comfortable that I haven't given them aids or some other blood disease. Needless to say I'M ALSO demanding this person be tested too - who's to say that THEY don't have some type of disease!!

So - I am going in tomorrow for the blood test. My question is this: I am due to have a blood test anyhow for my thyroid condition. My doctor won't renew my prescription until I do - I have one month left. It's funny because I can't afford to go in right now for the test. We don't have insurance and the test and then dr's visit runs over $200. Do you think that this test that will be run tomorrow ( at no charge to myself ) would also test my thyroid??? I would love to submit their test results to my doc and see if it would work.

    What do you think??

you can ask your doctor to write the thyroid tests and they can include it in the draw but you will most likely have to pay for it. it is unlikely the dentist will run a thyroid test. they are going to run one for blood borne diseases like aids and hepititis.
