  • I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis

and have written 5 low-carb cookbooks. I am finally (last 2 years)medicated optimally and am skinnier after the 5 low-carb cookbooks written with practically no break between 'em, than I was after writing my 3 diabetic-style cookbooks (3rd one we did not publish as I lost interest when I jumped on the low-carb band wagon). Check out my success story in the Dec. 28th issue of LowCarb Energy magazine or check my website for my thyroid story and recent pics and success story. I will always remain faithful to low-carb and I think there will always be a core of low-carbers, even if the initial excitement of this diet has dwindled somewhat.

I hope my story will encourage someone who is also hypothryoid.

Thanks! What is your name? Your av name does not suit you anymore. You're very skinny!!!

I will think of posting in the recipe room. Life is just so crazy at the moment.

              Hoshimoto's

I also have Hashimoto's. What is your web site ? I would be interested in reading the article. Also what kinds of meds are you on? I am going to see the Dr. soon and I am going to ask about T4T3 combo. I am taking synthroid now. I've always blamed my weight gain and inability to lose on my thyroid problem. ensive Now I'm not so sure??

Rivera :hug , I am metabolically resistant to weight loss, just like you - due to the thyroid, however, I use a combination of synthroid and cytomel (T3 - boosts metabolism) and my TSH is totally suppressed at about 0.03, but my FT4 is in the lower part of the range and my FT3 is in the higher part of the range and I believe it is the T3 that drives my TSH down. I had a big goiter (3 cm) and it is now barely perceptible to folks who don't know what to look for.

You can find my web site in my profile. Then look on the web site for "My thyroid story". Hope this helps you.

I'm happy you're looking to add cytomel. It will help you to lose weight more easily.

It is still a bit of a battle for me and I have to be mindful of calories, as well as exercise. The weight drops off my DH so easily in comparison, but I'm just happy that I found a way that I can lose and easily maintain a better weight for me. I am a few pounds heavier than my sig says at the moment due to just having enjoyed American Thanksgiving with friends and being off plan for 10 days and this time of year. Phew! It is a fattening time of year, but I don't panic anymore. I know I can lose it again.

You can try the other web site sweety.com - there are two. They display for me, so I'm not sure what's up?
