  • Need some slow start help

It's been 3 weeks and I've gained 5 pounds since I started. I have a thyroid problem but last time I did this I had results right away. I haven't taken measurements but I'm feeling pretty discouraged. Has anyone had the same problem? My headaches are gone and I feel better but I'm not loosing weight. I haven't been as strict as I should be on total carbs per day but I've still drastically reduced sugar and carb intake and have a cardio workout 25-35 min 3 times a week. Help!

Sorry - I don't have a thyriod problem, hopefully one of the mods can help you with your answer. However - you mentioned you haven't been as strict with your carbs and only "drastically reduced sugar" in order for you to have a clean induction you really ought to give up the sugar completely as well as follow the 20 carbs per day allowance. Also if you have been drinking lots of water, but eating alot of salt that will help you retain fluids which would cause the 5 lbs. gain. Post a typical menu so the experts/successful people can look at it to give you ideas. Don't get discouraged and when you get a moment take your measurements... you may have lost inches and not known it.

Thanks for your post. That's encouraging. I will begin again and stick to the 20 carbs per day. I was having a lot of salt...maybe that's it. I also made a doctors appointment to see if my dosage is right for my thyroid problem.

      Thanks!

Hi My, I don't have thyroid problems either but if I remember right, Atkins is the perfect plan for you. If I were you, I would do strick strick strick induction for the next two weeks and see how it goes. Start a journal and post what your eating, even if its bad stuff. You should have seen my journal. 5 Jan "Started with a bang and ended the day with cheese cake. Jan 6, Slice of toast for breakfast. Jan 7, Cheat free. Good for me. Jan 8 Fried (in batter mushrooms) Finally on Jan 9 I reported a cheat free day and kept it up. It took me awhile but I'm down 15 pounds since the 9th and thats cool.
If I can do it so can you

        41 pounds down and counting
