  • Looking for thoughts on my thyroid test

    Hello All,

I recently received my thyroid results and it states that they are normal, however I read the January 2003 Press Release from the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists
stating that the ranges have been changed. My results came back as
    TSH .880 and Free T4 .8
Can anyone help me understand this?
I have many of the symptoms of low thyroid and have for years.
Does anyone have any info on natural ways to support thyroid function.
    Thanks in advance!

What time of day was the blood drawn?

The FREE T4 looks very low, but I can't tell without knowing the reference ranges your lab uses.
Do you have a copy of the lab report? If so what is the reference range listed (different labs use different ranges).

Re: Looking for thoughts on my thyroid test

Thanks so much for responding! This is what i have from the lab:
      LAB RESULT NORMAL RANGE
      TSH, Ultra Sensitive .880ulU/ml .340-5.6
      Free T4 (thyroid) .80ng/dl .5 - 1.5

My doc says it's normal - but when i did some research - it sounds like it is low. Not that i want to be on a med - would try natural things first. I just seem to fit so many of the characteristics... Especially always cold!
      Thanks for any thoughts!

I too have just had my thyroid checked and I am waiting on the results. I've had it checked in the past and it has always come back normal, but I too am always cold. It's 90 degrees here in Houston with high humidity and I'm the idiot with a long sleeve sweater on. I would love to hear the outcome of yours once you figure it out.
        Thanks for all your support!!

Jen, there is a doctor in Houston names Dr. Hotze (or something like that).
He often does radio interviews (or did in the past). Have you ever heard of him?

Re: Looking for thoughts on my thyroid test

Do a web search for Dr. Steven Hotze.

                He has a web site.
He has written books about women and hormomes (inclucing thyroid hormones).
I am not in Houston, I live in South Carolina.
