  • Creatine for Women

Have any of you lovely ladies tried taking creatine to help increase muscle mass? I read the sticky on it, but wasn't sure if any women have tried it or what their results have been. I don't really want to be a body builder, but I felt that maybe if I was building more muscle I'd be able to take my workouts farther and then burn more fat.

    Thoughts?

every Atkineer is "taking" creatine. it is a natural compound forund in meat so the answer should be yes. many weight lifters addmore creatine to their programs because they like the bulk it quickly gives them when incorporated into the muscles as phosphocreatine. the phosphocreatine is used as part of the phosphogen energy cycle during anerobic parts of the workouts.

Since fluid is counted ad leanbody mass you will get an immediate jump in your leanbody tissue mass when supplementing with extra creatine because of the fluids stored with it for the body to use too. if you stop using it then you lose the fluids and poof your lean mass goes down again.

what you want to do is lose fat mass not play numbers games with it. Yes adding more lean tissue will lower your body fat mass% but you still got the same amount of body fat stored. work your Atkins and your exercise parts to burn off your fat masses. Making more ATP for the phosphogen enrgy cycle is how you burn off fat mass so don't take shortcuts to store mare as then you need less made each workout. Now if you were going to be a competative athelete it might be worth it.

I'd say take it. It's benefits far outweights anything. You will gain about 5-10 pounds when starting on it. Common bloat people complain about. All of it water weight, as creatine does retain water into your muscles. Make sure you up your water intake considerably. Now hydration during your workout is also important, so have more water during to make up for the lost water through perspiration. Common signs of not having enough water will soon sprout as you'll probably get the nastiest muscle cramps. You have 3 common options: Creatine Monohydrate (normal creatine), Creatine Ethyl Ester and Creatine Kre Alkalyn. What's different is CEE mainly has a better delievery system, so the creatine can reach muscle without the need of an insluin spike and also causes reduced bloating as it will retain water into the muscle cells, rather than some of it surrounding the outer layer as with mono. Kre Alkalyn has the same benefits of CEE, but is supposedly more potent and doesn't go toxic. (I doubt creatine goes toxic anyway)

And don't worry, you won't get ripped like arny or something.
