  • Vitamin recommendations/Symmetry HELP!!!!

    Hello Atkins Addicts

Can you help me with vitamins?? I am sick, so today I bought some C with rosehips (by recommendation) and will take them regularly. But, I need something to go with induction.I am not very vitamin educated! I know just the little basics. I am 27 y/o, 175 lbs, 5'4 and on second time induction after a failed christmas. I do excercise 1/2 hour a day.

My fiances mother sells Symmetry (direct selling company) and I am kinda obligated to buy from her. Here are the multi-vitamins:

And then I was going to get this carb blocker:
    http://www.symmetrydirect.com/products/carbless.htm

I've been seeing alot of inexpensive things in the store (One a Day, Centrum, Generic, etc.) But I remember that B-complex is important. Also, I saw some big Flaxseed Oil tablets on sale. So...what do I buy? I don't want to take anything I don't need.

Multi-vitamin (which one do you recommend?)
B-complex (do I need to ADD this to the multi-v?)
Fish Oil, Omega 3, Flaxseed oil (Are these absolutely necessary?)
Carb Blocker (will this really help me lose weight more efficiently and /or faster?)
Potassium (I got a leg cramp a few weeks ago while walking. Do I need this?)

Thanks for your help, I've been struggling with what I should be taking for a little while. I never fully comprehended this part in the book, besides that taking supplements are important.

    Hi,

potassium is probably a good idea. Carb blocker sounds like something you can skip. Just count your carbs and eat legal foods.

If you add flaxseed to your food, you won't nead flaxseed oil, and buying capsules is the most expensive way to up your flax intake. Flaxseed oil is available in small dark bottles (keep in the fridge) so you could take half a teaspoon if you want to or drizzle it on your food if you like the taste. (hemp oil is also very good). Bit I'd recommend taking flaxseed.

I don't know about symmetry products, but I feel most multi level marketing stuff is way overpriced.

Well, they are kind a expensive, but the multis look good. As for the carb blockers, don't waste your time or your money. C is always good to take, as it will protect you from colds and flue and a number of cooties. Take a good essential oil, Fish oil is good, a combo of flax and fish is good, you can't get enough good omega oils.
I also take a B-100 which I feel is important for me and Co EQ10, but I am old and I think thats a good heart pill.
DANDR talks about good supplements to take, but everyone needs to adjust the recommendations to their own health requirements.
Great question, and glad you posted.

Thanks for your responses. I do get her discount as a seller. I think it's 40%. And because she comes to babysit on a schedule, her "pay" is $60 in retail a month from me. Just trying to figure out what would go good with the Atkins Induction and OWL.

        Here are the Omega caplets:

Would these be good? I do have flaxseed meal in my fridge. Is it possible to consume TOO much??

The thing I don't like about these products though is the multi-v are 4 times a day (4 in a packet) and the Omega is 3 times a day. It'd be alot easier to just take one a day Vs.

http://www.lowcarbohydrateproducts.c...pl?Category=17 Toms store has Essentials on sale and they list both Omega's on the label so see if you can find something simular
Your right, I would never manage a 4 time a day pill. I can barely remember to take them once a day.

Oh ok...I was hoping that Atkins brand vitamins existed. (Though I'm still obligated to buy stuff from this woman! lol)

Why are Omegas so important again? And how do they help with weight loss?

No, EFA don't help with weight loss, but they are essential to health as we don't get a lot of Omegas in our diets. They geneally come from flax seeds and walnut and the other comes from Salmon and Sardines. THe reason we don't get a lot in our diets is because nuts and seeds go rancid very quickly and Salmon is expensive.
              Dr A highly recommends them.

Just a note: If you are on Induction and eating less than 20 grams of carbs per day then you don't need the carb blocker.

I generally take a multi-vitamin, Essential Fish Oils, Vitamin E, Calcium.
