    Re: Hoodia...Weightloss Pill

It sounds to me like the real thing probably is an effective apptetite supressant, BUT... the plant, which is a rare, slow growing desert cactus in africa, most likely never makes it into the products companies are trying to sell you. Or maybe a token molecule or two, but not enough to do anything. They also sneak in other plants named "hoodia" which aren't the same species of hoodia with the effective substance.

The same thing happens with yohimbe products, plus they toss in junk like caffeine, guarana (more), cayenne, mahuang etc. to give you an "effect". You can get the real McCoy, though, for a heft price - it supposedlyis an aid to weight loss in women as well as a male agent. I'll let you all know what I think of it when the bag I ordered of pure yohimbe bark powder shows up.

I tried it and it did nothing for me. I forget what kind I bought, but I got it at walmart in the weight loss section. Dawn

              Re: Hoodia...Weightloss Pill

Those pills are NASTY!!! I got some at Rite Aid (pre-Atkins), and they made me feel mean, and didn't do a thing for being hungry. I know I always say this, but if there was a pill that REALLY made you lose weight, everybody in the darn world would be taking them and we would not be here at ADBB.
What would we do without it?

                Re: Hoodia...Weightloss Pill

I'd say about 90% of the "hoodia" supplements on the market are fake, or maybe have 1-2% hoodia content. My father shipped me some real hoodia from an organic foodstore in Michigan. The bottle was $69.99. It did absolutely nothing but completely supress my appetite and hunger pangs, which, yes is what it's supposed to do. But all these other products are loaded with caffeine etc. which gives you the jitters and a temporary suppression of appetite. Real hoodia is expensive.
