  • Question about Vitamin C

Oh boy am I glad to have found this forum. Does anyone know if Vitamin C Crystals are plan friendly? My doctor has me on 5000 mg of C twice a day. I've been trying to find out if it will interfer with induction and since I couldn't seem to get an answer I've been swallowing 10 pills a day.

The C Crystals is 5,000 mg for a tsp in a bottle of water with a little stevia to sweeten.

    Please help!

      Re: Question about Vitamin C

Thank you jimmie. I also wanted to ask about Ionic-Fizz. It's a calcium and magnesium suppliment that you can put in water. I hate taking pills and I have enough with the vitamins, EFA, etc.

I can handle just about anything if I can drink it.

        Re: Question about Vitamin C

Casey, what brand of vitamin C crystals are you taking? If it's GNC's Vitamin Crystals, those are perfectly fine for induction or anytime during Atkins. I know this because I take it.

That's a lot of vitamin C, but not uncommon for trying to help prevent or cure something. Usually when you take large doses similar to that, you'll experience some diarrhea (or just loose stools) until your body gets used to the large dose. Also, it is wise to gradually increase your dosage over time instead of shocking your body with a large increase of C. Same thing when it comes to discontinuing taking Vit C...you need to do so gradually.

Never heard of ionic-fizz...is that the brand name?

The more info you can provide us, the better we can help you with your choices.

          Re: Question about Vitamin C

Thank you biogeek. I'm taking Pure C Crystals by Nature's Life. I did have to build up slowly. The doctor is trying to build my immune system back. I used to be the healthiest person on the planet but got hit with a Perfect Storm. I love taking the stuff. I put a teaspoon in a bottle of water, a small squirt of stevia and I have a delicious "lemonaid".

Ionic-Fizz is by Pure Essence labs. Another one you put into a bottle of water. It's already sweetened with Stevia. I can't stand swallowing Calcium pills, the good ones are always as big as horse pills. Any time I can drink my vitamins I'll go for it.

Thank you so much for your help. I've been swallowing pills for days.

            Re: Question about Vitamin C

            Hi Casey,

I looked up your Nature's Life vitamin C crystals and they seem just fine. It has a nice list of what's NOT in your supplement and the only ingredient that I'm wondering about is sugar. You may wish to contact the manufacturer to see whether or not these crystals have sugar. Better to be safe than sorry!

I also looked into Ionic-Fizz and it seems to be a pretty nifty product. It says it doesn't contain sugar, but doesn't list the other stuff that may be detrimental to the Atkin's WOE. A quick e-mail or phone call should help answer that question, depending on their customer service. Otherwise, their product will help a lot of people that can't stand to swallow the typical horse-size calcium pills.

Let us know what you find out!
