  • Tired -- oh so tired!

    Hi all!

I wanted to pick your brains .... as I have tried reading around the web but I can't seem to find a simple answer to what I considered to be a "simple" question ...
what vitamin /mineral can I take more of to give me extra energy .. I am fed of being so tired all the time!!
It is mental tiredness .. I do a very intensely high-concentration work for 10/12 hours / day.
And after that I am too tired to do anything else!
I manage when I am on my own ... but when I have family to visit after 3 days I am totally knocked out and it takes days for me to recover.
I can't take caffeine-based drinks/pick-me-ups as I also suffer from palpitations and slight panic attacks when I am tired ....
So ...... are any of these packs of Vitamins looking at me from my cupboard -such as Vit C, Folic Acid, Vit. B12 any good to get extra energy ???

Thanks in advance for any comments

St Johns wort is supposed to be good for that from what I read last night. Maybe someone else will come along and give some more suggestions.

I would start taking a good vitamin B complex with focus on B12, then magnesium. This is for starters.

          Good luck!

Thanks Jimmie that was truly enlightening ..... thanks also Biogeek for your input .. I will shop around today and see if I can get something here .. otherwise I will order online .. These things tend to be very expensive in Italy.
Have a good day all !!

You're right there Jenny.... I spend a fortune on supplements here! If they make you feel less tired though, a worthwhile expense, don't you think?

                Ciao Sally!
                Nice to 'read' you again
I was just online on Ebay .. and there seem to be some good offers for B-complex and also B12 .. sold in the UK. Good prices too!

... Another silly question of mine .... is it right that you need about a month in any case ... before one sees any results when taking vitamins etc ???

Have you tried Supradyn Sally ?

                Have a nice Sunday everyone!

Ciao Jenny Nice to see you again too!

Thanks for the heads up about vits on ebay... must take a look. I haven't tried Supradyn... is it good? Right now I take Acutil Senior, which is the only multivit I could find here that doesn't have iron.

I think you're right that it takes a while before the effect of vitamins is noticeable... at least some vitamins... but am on shaky ground here. I'm sure someone more knowldgeale will be long to give you a more reliable answer.

Re: Tired -- oh so tired!

Never heard of Supradyn, so can't help you there. However, to answer your other questions about vitamins....it depends on the vitamins. Some supplements, you can see results from it in about two weeks or so. Other vitamins take about a month before you see or feel results, and yet others that take multiple months to take effect. Length of time depends partially on how depleted your own body stores are of certain vitamins/minerals/amino acid/fatty acids and how consistent you are in taking your supplements.
