I started taking the One A Day weightsmart vitamins and I had to quit after a couple of days. I would take one in the morning with breakfast and then about 10 min later I would throw up. Has this ever happened to any of you before? I know I need to be taking something. Any suggestions.

Re: Vit. make me sick, literally!
Hi. Iron makes me sick, and I was told by doctors and nurses it makes a lot of people sick. For my back surgeries, they have had me pump up on iron. It makes me sick, but I have to take it anyway. And it's been known to bother me in one a day vitamins as well, so I'm slack on taking those, but need to.

Re: Vit. make me sick, literally!
I don't think we should be taking the ones with iron. Since we eat around 30% protein we get plenty through our food.
I haven't had that problem either, the getting sick. You've been taking them with breakfast so that's probably not the problem. I wouldn't take them on an empty stomach.

Yep. In fact, I always have to time vitamins just right..a couple minute before I eat. Not too early though because the empty stomach. If I give it just a few minutes when it starts dissolving I'm tossing stuff on top. Its almost like food holds it down. I did this with PreNatals too years ago. Another thing I've had success with is downing my vits right before bed.

Re: Vit. make me sick, literally!
Hi Star,
Many people have issues with taking multivitamins, so you're not alone. If you've figured out a system where you can take pesky supplements, that's great!
Most need to be taken with food or right before.
I looked up your vitamins on-line and I would encourage you to either discontinue taking them or not replacing them when the bottle is empty.
Why? Here's your ingredient list. Note the red items-you don't want these in a supplement.
INGREDIENTS
Calcium Carbonate, Cellulose, Green Tea Extract, Magnesium Oxide, Ascorbic Acid, Ferrous Fumarate, Acacia, Sodium Starch Glycolate, dl-Alpha-Tocopheryl Acetate, Niacinamide, Croscarmellose Sodium, Zinc Oxide, Dicalcium Phosphate, Dextrin, D-Calcium Pantothenate, Caffeine Powder, Silicon Dioxide, Hypromellose, Magnesium Stearate, Titanium Dioxide, Gelatin, Corn Starch, Glucose, Crospovidone, Calcium Silicate, Manganese Sulfate, Cupric Sulfate, Polyethylene Glycol, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Riboflavin, Dextrose, Thiamine Mononitrate, Lecithin, Beta Carotene, Chromium Chloride, Resin, Folic Acid, FD&C Blue #1 Lake, Sodium Selenate, Phytonadione, Tricalcium Phosphate, Cholecalciferol, Cyanocobalamin.
The One a Day link is here: http://www.one-a-day.com/products/weightsmart.shtml
So, some ingredients that make people feel horrid include iron, zinc, Vit C, B, selenium, and so forth.
I'm also not a fan of caffeine in my supplements, but that is a personal choice. You're getting hit by two sources: the caffeine powder and green tea extract. I'm not certain how much caffeine a serving has with this.
Back to the ingredients in general, most are the cheaper forms of nutrients to manufacture, not necessarily the ones that are the most easily absorbed or utilized by the body.
Dream is right---for most people, a supplement with iron is unnecessary. There's a response I made in another thread regarding multivitamins without iron. I discuss the difference between iron in supplements vs. food. Basically, there are two types of iron, and supplements have the bad kind.
Let me know if you have further questions.

I'm exactly the same, I have to time it just right. i usually take them right before i start to eat.
Bio, i know my one a day has a bit of starches in it, but i personally don't think it's really a big enough amount to worry about. so it's never really bother me as far as carb or this woe go.Jen, 39, F

Re: Vit. make me sick, literally!
Multis make me sick too. But, I have found one brand that doesn't. It was given to me by my old naturopathic doctor, so I don't know if these can be found in a vitamin store or healthfood store. I'm pretty sure you can find them online, though. I have to warn you they are expensive, but the are the BEST vitamins I have ever had. They totally help with my PMS sysmptoms too which is why he started me on them. And they never make me sick, but I do try to make sure I take them with food just in case.
THe name is Women's Synbiotic Nutrients and they come in a blue bottle.
OK, I found a link for them:
