  • HELP - Does L-carnitine cause water retention?

I am trying to get my head around the mine field that is supplements :help ??

Thank You to all the very informative posts in this form!

I have just started taking CoQ10 and L-Glutamine, the L-Glutamine for cravings and the CoQ10 for energy.

But, i think i am a little confused and getting deeper and deeper into internet research really isn’t helping, so I wondered could you clear something up for me....

Does L-carnitine cause water retention? Or am i getting it confused with creatine, which helps to build muscle bulk by filling the muscles "nutritious water" while building.

Thank you all again, a very confused Chrissie ensive

    Hi Crissy, :wave

In my experience L-Carnitine does not cause water retention, in fact just the opposite because it may help you burn fat faster.

Dr. Atkins started Patients at 1500 mg a day and move most of them up to 5,000 mg a day. L-Carnitine isn't cheap and most recommend a very low dose of 500 mg a day. If you're going to try it, try 500 mg three times a day. I have found it's helping me and I take 4,000 mgs a day.

Give it a try and see if you notice a difference
