  • Fish Oil

    Question for Biogeek and others.

I picked up some "Nature Made" Omega 3 fish oil 1200 mg from the local Target store.

It says that one serving is 2 pills. In one serving it contains 432 mg of EPA and 288 of DHA.

Says to take 1 to 2 "softgels" twice daily with a meal.

    Is that enough?

I have read a couple of things that said you should get 1 to 4 Grams of Omega 3 a day. If I go two "softgels" twice a day I get 1.4 grams a day. Is that enought? I am a big guy, maybe I need to go with 2 "softgels" three times a day?

    What do you folks think?

    Re: Fish Oil

    Hey Rob,

You may take more, but NEVER go over 3 grams total a day without the approval of a physician. This is true regardless of what size you are.

Since fish oils are on the costly side, you can also supplement your fish oil by the use of flaxseed oil, which is high in omega 3s. Just don't go over the 3 gram rule.

Let me know if you have further questions.
