Hello everyone. I usually take my multivitamin in the morning along with my fish oil pill. However a coworker told me that he takes his at night because his wife heard it is better for him or something along those lines. Anyone know the truth about this? Also, my multivitamin only has 100-200% of each item. Should I take 2 pills? Also, should I add L-carnitine to the regimin?

Re: When to take a multivitamin
daquix,
Read the label carefully. Some manufacturers list the amounts based on one tablet, two tablets, or even more. If you only need to take one a day, based on the manufacturer, then when you take it is up to you. The important thing is to be consistent at taking them. Some find that taking a supplement easier with food to help ease any nausea that may occur. Also, you don't want to take TOO much of certain vitamins, so be careful.
If you're only taking one pill a day, it doesn't matter when you're taking the supplement. Some feel that they get the most bang for the buck by taking it at night because of fewer trips to the bathroom. They feel that they are literally peeing away their vitamins. In reality, they are only getting rid of the excess water-based vitamins and this will occur at any time, even at night. Once the excess water-based vitamins gets process and filtered by the kidneys, they go to the bladder and are held there until you wake up. So in that regard, there is no real benefit to taking it at night versus the day.
Hope that helps.

Re: When to take a multivitamin
When I am going to the gym every day (need to but not doing right now) I take my vitamin before I go work out, it is high in b vitamins and I always feel like I get a boast of energy from it. Most times now I just take it whenever I can remember.

Re: When to take a multivitamin
wow...weird! I will have to look for it on my next trip to Buffalo. Though I just read on one forum that they will confiscate it at teh border if you're caught with it. This is the same country that writes prescriptions for medical marijuana. go figure.Originally posted by biogeekSadie, you won't be able to get L-carnitine in Canada unless you have a prescription. Why it's that way, I have no idea.

Re: When to take a multivitamin
Hey Sadie. I live pretty close to Buffalo and I go to Toronto about once a year and Niagara Falls, Canada more than once per year and everytime I cross the border into Canada it is usually pretty quick and the only questions they ask are what we do, how much cash we have on us, why were gonna be there, and if we are bringing any tobacco products into the country. Perhaps it is different with Canadians re-entering, but from my personal experience, they have never searched us or our items.Originally posted by sadie147wow...weird! Re: When to take a multivitamin
Oh it's very different for us. We're limited to how much we can bring back per person in merchandise, alcohol etc. And of course, the only reason we GO is to shop and buy cheap booze! so depending on the customs agent you get...they will search your car. I've lucked out so far and haven't been searched..i never bring back under the limit...especially with the cheap booze!Originally posted by daquixHey Sadie. It's worse lately because of the high traffic going over due to the dollar.
For us it's really quick crossing into the US. though the last guy i got made me take off my sunglasses and really studied my id. which was a first.

Re: When to take a multivitamin
Yup they are..now that we're completely o/t LOL.Originally posted by biogeekThat's incredible! I had no idea they were so particular.
Do you not have restrictions when you leave the us on what you can bring back? if we stay over 24 hours we're allowed $50 in merchandise (ha!) and no liquor or cigarattes, 48 hours we're allowed $750, which i can spend no problem, 40 ozs of liquor and 200 cigs. If they go through our luggage and we're caught lying, it goes on your customs record for 7 years, which basically guarntees your car will be searched every time you cross.
we're quite inventive in how we can hide stuff on a day trip! wearing old clothes and changing in a bathroom and throwing them away etc.Jen, 39, F
