WARNING: VERY GRAPHIC AND PRETTY MUCH EMBARASSING!!!



Ok, i have been on the supplements now since Saturday, and today i had diareaha and there was blood in the stool, it scares me to death, i went again and there was none the second time, can any of the supplements im taking cause this, and i do have yeast and im fighting that as well, im not in any pain or anything so im not sure what to think here. The supplements im on again are:
GNC Womens Bone Density Multi w/o iron or iodine
Omega Complex
Garlic Pills
Probiotics

Im not sure what is going on, and then i thought i was suppose to be constipated lol, no for real i always read about people having constipation but that is not what is going on with me, but what scared me is the blood in the stool. I have never known to have any ulcers or anything of that nature.

Lisa, I cannot imagine why any of the supplements you are currently taking would cause bloody diarrhea, but I'm not a health-care professional, so someone more knowledgeable might be able to answer you.

Have you ever passed blood in your stools in the past or have issues with hemmorroids? Is the blood bright red, somewhat darkish red, or very dark, almost black? What about other discomforts? To be on the safe side, a visit to your doctor may be in order, especially if this is the first time you've ever experienced blood in your stool.

Well it is was more bright red, or period red, kind of like when its that time of the month, im not going to say it was actually diarhera i should of maybe just said loose bowls, but now about a day or two ago i had to strain to get it out, but no i dont have any discomfort and i went to the bathroom again and there was no blood, but it was loose again. My hubby said he has had it happen before but i have never at least that i can remember, but im not sure what exactly hemorroids are suppose to feel like. Im a hypochondriac so the littlest thing will scare me into a frantic.

(((Lisa))) - Bio gives great advice above. My DH had the very same symptoms (no supplements/vitamins involved - no change in diet) last winter and it scared both of us. He went and had the full scope and it was hemmoroids. Aren't you scheduled to see your dr. soon anyway? I know you're like me and not wild about the dr. but its time to get a check up. Just thinking of you sweetie.

Your physician will be able to tell you if you have hemmorroids or not via a digital exam. It's common for people to have it, and straining while going to the bathroom can cause them to start to bleed. The loose stools could be caused by something different and not necessarily related to the blood you're seeing. Again, your doctor can help you with this.

Bright red blood in the stool generally indicates issues with the lower GI tract rather than higher up (dark, tarry stools), and there are a number of issues that can cause it. Even taking OTC medications such as ibuprofen or aspirin can cause bloody stools. There's just so much that can cause it...that's why I think a visit to your doctor couldn't hurt.

Thank you so much for helping me. IM going to the doctor here soon and i will bring it up, if i see it again, i will more than likely make a sick appt to get in sooner, im going for a physical when i go so that is still about a week away i had to reschedule it.

Even if the blood doesn't show up again, I think you should still bring it up. It could be something mundane such as hemmorroids, but what if it isn't? Better to be safe than sorry, especially since you're going to see your physician anyway.
