  • Lower LDL?

I am currently taking "NSI Complete EFA", http://www.vitacost.com/NSI-Complete-EFA. I have been taking it may be for the past 2 months or so. Last visit to the doctor showed a great improvement in my overall blood work Cholesterol is down and Tri is down; however, my LDL seems to be increasing and HDL decreasing. Is that normal?

Is there any supplements available for lowering the LDL?

    Re: Lower LDL?

In general, the B vitamins are proported to lower LDLs and raise HDLs, niacin in particular. Atkins had a recommended amount to take for LDL/HDL, but for the life of me, I don't remember! My book is at work, so I can tell you tomorrow. Soluble fiber is also suppose do act in a similar way. That's why there are so many ads on TV about eating your oatmeal. Exercise is also one of those things that is suppose to help as well and it seems that you're getting your fair share in!

As far as your blood results are concerned, each person is a bit different in how one reacts to supplements and also how long it takes the body to respond. I'm happy for your that your overall cholesterol and triglycerides are down! When are you schedule for your next blood workup?

Thanks biogeek. I think next check will be in about 6 months from now. I take my NSI multivitamins. These are in the same dosage as recommended in Dr. Atkins book. So, I guess I am on the right track, just need to be patient. Will wait and see I guess.
