  • Soy Lecithin Granules

Any thoughts on Soy Lecithin? I bought some recently, it's pretty cheap. I don't buy the weight loss claims of it..but i did read some good articles on how it can help brain funciton and memory (bad memory runs in our family!).

I've also heard it can help people with brain injuries with their recovery (i've got an uncle with a brain injury).

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with or knows much about it? Seems like alot of what i read is on sites that sell it...I hate that!

The Weston A. Price site had an article on it basically calling it 'soy sludge' LOL..that has made me now question it.

What I don't like much about it is the calories..it's 50cals per tbsn!

Sorry Jen. I really don't know much about soy lecithin. I'll do some searches on the university databases and see what sort of research articles pop up with it. I'll let you know tomorrow!

Thanks Bio I'd appreciate that! In this case the internet is not being terribly helpful for researching it. But i read somewhere about it being good for brain injuries and memory..which is what has peaked my interest!

        Sadie,

Evidently, soy lecithin is indeed made from soybeans, "the waste product left over after the soybean is processed." There are a lot of research articles about how it lowers cholesterol and serum LDL as well as some for memory function; however, I have yet to find one that specifically deals with soy lecithin and brain injuries. I'll look again on Monday and report back.
