  • Question about my garlic supplement

I recently bought some garlic supplements..I guess I should have paid closer attention but I am wondering now if what I have is okay to take.

The bottle says it is yeast, gluten, dairy, preservative, and sugar free. What concerns me is the "kyolic enzyme complex" which is made up of amylase, protease, cellulase, and lipase. Also, it has 40mg of rice protein-calcium complex. Is this going to affect my low carb efforts?

    Thanks in advance!

You aren't ingesting 'rice.' The rice protein thingie would mean protein removed from rice. Protein is our friend, you are good. All the things ending in 'ase' are just enzymes. No worries there.

But good on ya for reading labels!

I wouldn't worry about that complex stalling you. Enzymes are a special type of protein, so don't let those -ases scare you off. In fact, amlyase is an enzyme we have in our mouths to start the breakdown of starches. An like mom said, the rice protein-calcium complex is just letting folks know it's from rice and not from some other source....mostly for those wishing to get veggie ingredients instead of meat sources.
