  • Vitamin E - not the wonder drug they thought it was.

I took Vitamin E for the longest time and also having issues with it. One day I read that this woman was unable to take Vitamin E because it raised her BP and I quit taking it and have never looked back.
Here is a new study out of Austrailia that saids it doesn't prevent heart disease or cancer.
    Another one bites the dust.

I'm definitely no expert on vita nutrients but wasn't that study focused on dl-alpha-tocopherol, which is a synthetic vitamin E ? Dr. Mercola is one of the people who claim that the natural vitamin E actually delivers the promised goods :confused

    Here's a link I found in case someone's interested:

The study pales in comparison to the mountain of evidence that supports Vitamin E not only to be one of our most powerful antioxidants but it's effectiveness in a number of health related issues.

In Dr. Atkins book The Vita - Nutrient Solution he points to significant case studies, one being that the administration of only 40 mg of Vitamin E to people suffering Leukoplakia (pre malignant mouth cancer lesions) showed an improvement ratio of a whopping 71%

Equally impressive studies abound linking vitamin E to the relife and prevention of many cancers and heart disease. There is a wealth of research that confirms vitamin E as a substantial benefit to Altzhiemers disease, auto immune deficiency diseases and a myriad of other conditions.

This particular study deals with a testing group of people within a very strict criteria, they are all over fifty-five years of age and all have diabetes or some sort of coronary disease.

So it may very well be true that for people who fall into this very specific minority - vitamin E is of little or no advantage to them.

However that surely wouldn't negate the well documented benefits of Vitamin E for an overwhelming majority of the population

I have never been able to take Vit E because it did adverse thinks to my blood pressure, made it go way up, so I quit taking it. I was amazed that I had that problem as I had never heard of it before. Then I read this article and wasn't surprized others had the same problem.
I really don't know if I was taking the real stuff or not.
