  • Do vitamins impact blood sugar?

    Hey all!

Maybe a stupid question, but here goes.

Do vitamins impact blood sugar? Do they contain any carbs?

Assuming a simple multi-vitamin, not 'Flintstones' or silly stuff like that.

    Thanks in advance!

Hi, J. Sorry for the late reply...

If the vitamins don't contain sugars, they normally do not increase your blood sugar levels. Several vitamins and minerals (e.g. chromium, magnesium, vitamin E, etc.) help stabilize/lower blood sugar.

Vitamin C may increase your blood sugar levels, but only if you take more than 4500 mg per day. But to get 4500 mg in, you have to try pretty hard...

Sometimes cheapo vitamins may contain starch or fillers, but it should say so on the label.
Centrum Silver is a great choice as it contains no iron.
