turning 50 next month

sorta scary to be 50

trying to turn my life around and feel better and all.

i guess i am going thru withdrawl and i feel yucky
hoping it will end soon,
I just had a capachino from D.D.
i dont think it was good for induction.
So i will not have that again, I really didnt think of it. I had to pick up a coffee for a friend and without thinking, ordered and drank one. I find I go on auto pilot alot and eat or go to eat without thinking.

Hi, Sandi,

I will be turning 50 this year and it is scary to me,too. In fact had lunch with a friend yesterday and spent the entire lunch discussing the big five-o.

Losing weight, but mainly being consistant with exercise is what keeps me from being so scared. My family has history of type 2 diabetes on both sides, heart disease, kidney disease, hypertension, and stroke. I want to avoid these issues later in life.

At my last annual exam, after being on atkins and exercising 5x week for 6 months, my blood pressure, cholesterol, liver function tests, and blood sugar tests all dropped into the normal range after being borderline high at my annual exam the previous year. My doc was amazed; his comment was they were "phenomenal results".

Hang in there, Sandi. Take it a day at a time. It is not easy for me to do this WOL like it is for some people on this board. Everyday I decide if I am going stay with this WOL as a downpayment on a healthy future or not. Today, I am. Tomorrow, I will decide again.

50 ROCKS!! Make everyday your BEST with Atkins and exercise! Its never too late to take charge of your life for the better!

You took the words out of my mouth, Betty.

50 is only significant because of two accidents:

1. The arbitrary time it takes for the earth to circle the sun.
2. The arbitrary decision to count in tens and hundreds. If we counted in dozens and grosses the "significant age" would be 72 (144/2)

So forget it - 50 aint magic.

And to expand on what Betty says - do Atkins right and you will be younger than when you started - or to state that accurately - you will have a greater proportion of your now longer life ahead of you than before.

Well, I'm right behind you sandi, I turn 50 in March. I don't intend to reach my goal by then but I am shooting for "fabulous and 50" rather than "fat and 50", which is where I was heading.

As long as I know I am working on a change for the better to make me feel and look younger I don't depressed about it. I am in hopes to be down a couple dress sizes by then and I should feel great.

50 is only a number. You're only as old as you feel and act. I know some people i their 30's who act and look alot older than there years. I never was concerned about turning 50, and I love the fact that I feel, so much better now than I did in my 30's. So don't fret,,,,,,,the best is yet to come!!!!

well i am a offical member here, Turned 50 today and we have the worse storm in 10 years they said
expecting over 22 inches
