If so how did you go about choosing your RX plan. I am getting buggy eyed looking at all the plans for DH

I helped my mother find a plan.

How are you trying to choose, Lauren? I went to their internet site first and that was confusing as heck for me. I finally called their number and spoke with a representative. She was extremely friendly and helpful and she narrowed them all down to basically 3 plans to choose from.

One of the things she asked for was a list of all of the medications that mom is presently taking.

if you have a current pharmacy many are offerring to let you know based on your meds what comanies you should pick plans from cause not all plans cover all meds.

if your DH has a conditon that will worsen with time like CHF or Alzheimer you should get all the known meds his condition might need and use that too to help you know what companies will be covering your medications cause if you got one that don't you are stuck until the next open enrollment period next yr paying for it out of pocket.

then once you know the meds are covered decide within those companies plans how healthy he is and how much you could afford to pay if he gets sick before you can change plans again in Jan of next yr. then pick your plan to cover that. It is nice to know we are not stuck with the plan we pick for ever nor will we have an uncovered period like when we change health insurance companies.
