  • Attack of the Giant Cabbage

I had quite a horrible experience yesterday. Must share. My daughter bought me a BIG HUGE CABBAGE and my grandsons helped her put away the groceries. They put it on the bottom shelf leaning on another item.

I came in to get water out of the frig and it rolled out and landed on my little pinky toe of my operated leg. OUCH, OUCH, OUCH. I only had on slippers. My toe is swollen and purple and sore as all get out. You should see me hobbling around. If I didn't feel sorry enough for myself before...then I sure do now.

Oh well....guess thats God's way of telling me to quit complaining or he'll give me something to complain about. I've felt sorry for myself off and on for the past week.

But, I saved the best for last.... I've lost 2 pounds, I am all smiles, even with a purple/yellow/black toe.

Yeah, it was a huge cabbage. One of my friends has started doing Atkins 1 1/2 weeks ago (has already lost 8 pounds and 9 inches!!) Anyways, we were talkiing about Cabbage and she said she'd like to have some cabbage rolls, but we aren't allowed rice. So, I told her If she bought the cauliflower...I'd buy the cabbage and we'd make some this week. My daughter found the biggest cabbage she could for the rolls.

Glad you're doing well again on the weight loss. Yes, you'll have your revenge when you eat that sucker of a cabbage! And whatever medication you're having for the knee should have some anti-inflammatory properties so that'll help.

Thanks for asking Odille. The toe is nearly all better. The cabbage was delicious and my knee is getting better. I twisted it today and it is a bit more sore than usual, but other than that, it is getting better. I'll be ready to have the other surgery in 9 days.

Re: Attack of the Giant Cabbage

I heard about killer cabbages, but I didn't know they lurked in refrigerators. I really feel for you, there is nothing worse than foot and toe pain.
I broke my little toe once and it was sticking out to the side. So I go to the hospital and they gave me a shot of demerol. Now let me tell you Demerol doesn't make the pain go away, you just don't care that you hurt. So the doc gives me the shot and tells me to go home. I told him I wasn't going to go with my toe heading in one direction and my foot in another. I made him put it back where it belonged. LOL
Keep off it as much as you can.

I can relate to the not caring about the pain. When I had the accident they gave me some type of gas to inhale - it still hurt (my dislocated thiumb) but I didn't much care! They did give me a local (actually several) to relocate it though.

Glad the cabbage was good, Becky, eating it was the ultimate revenge! Good luck for next week and the other knee.
