I am new to this board, but not new to Atkins. I started Atkins in July 2003 and was able to reach my goal. We have moved twice since then, and I didn't stick as close to the diet as I should have. I have started induction again, but I am not losing the weight this time. I have been keeping a food diary, and am only consuming 10 to 15 carbs a day. I no longer take hormone therapy (I was on it the first time, and lost weight like crazy). I have had my thyroid tested, and it is okay, and I am on no other medications. I take Atkins supplements daily, exercise, and drink 64 ounces of water per day. Has this happened to anyone else? I am losing my confidence in the diet.

Hard to say, Coral, just what the problem might be. You didn't say how long you'd been back on the program, so it's hard to know just how "bad" things are. May we ask what kind of hormone therapy you were on, before? Also, you might want to enter your daily menus into fitday.com and be sure that your calorie totals fall between your BMR and AMR.
Don't give up, just keep trying until you find out what's wrong. It does work, as you know from your own past. So, hang in there, and maybe give us a bit more information so that perhaps we can help you, better.-Chris

Perhaps you really need the 20 carbs per day??
I'm pretty new, too, so I don't know a lot; but doesn't your body go into "starvation mode" and start hording what it has if the carbs are too low?
Did I dream that? :confusedNew to Atkins....old to being fat.

you didn't say how much you needed to lose this time. compared to last time. Weight lost durning induction is a persentage of the amount you need to lose. 1 pount ofr somebody 10 pounds overweight it the same percent as 20 pounds for a 200 pound overweight person.
You know the program does work and you know it is a life time change in your eating habits. Take the time to do it correct this time so you can make it a WOL and not a race to goal and drop out only to need it again when you regain it the next time. Your healthy smaller body will that you down the road.by the book atkinseer

Well I'm on an anti candida woe which is rather restrictive. No dairy, vinegar, fungi eg mushrooms etc. I take a probiotic called yeast raiders (I'm in the UK) & Allimax (which is a garlic extract equivalent to 30/50 garlic bulbs) This has had a considerable effect on my symptoms - I feel loads better. Also weightloss has resumed.
I'm awaiting a delivery of Oil of Oregano which is supposed to be the best thing for dealing with candida. (Only the wild oil is suitable"
I have just read on another site that Kefir, yoghurt (obviously unsweetened) & buttermilk are good for containing Candida as they contain the Lactobacillus bacteria which is what should colonise our gut.
Sorry can't give you the link as my computer is playing up & I can't find web addresses. However the site is called Lo Carb Luxury.
There are also lots of sites which discuss candida if you do a search. Also DANDR discussed the yeast problem on page 331. I suggest you read that.
Also Becky Sue on this site knows a lot about candida. Hope this helps - good lick with your weightloss. Kath
