  • I'll be 50 in July, May I join in yet?

I can't believe what is going on with my body. I tell everyone I am 21 but my body tells me I am 49.

Does anyone ever get off synthroid for underactive thyroid with losing weight and exercise?

How much does this, thyroid problems and HRT (I'm on a low dose for thin bones) really affect weight loss?

I am so afraid that I'm not going to lose the 67 pounds I need to lose.

I'm on my second day of induction. I did the low fat thing. I lost weight and put it back on. I've read Atkin's books and see why but then there is that nagging...what if you fail again..then what?

sorry, guess the age thing has me so afraid. I don't want to be heavy for the rest of my life. Our family has many diabetics and people who have had heart attacks. I don't want that either.

Just wanted to show you that you can be over 50 and loose weight. I am 54.
I take thyroid meds to, but I don't know if we can ever get off the medication. I will be interested to find out the answer to this question myself.
I have already had my BP meds cut in half the dose. This was done a couple of months ago. Now my BP is getting low again. This evening it was 100/71, pulse 61. So won't be to long til I will be checking on lowering it some more. Or breaking my pill in two, half the dose.
I have also had a complete hysterectomy 10 years ago. The Dr. wants me to get off the HRT(hormone replacement therapy). So I am in the process of gradually doing this. Scares me, because I am getting hotter. Don't want to start the hot flashes again.
So don't worry about not being able to loose weight. If I can do it you certainly can do it too.

Welcome to the board!!! Crittermix and Red The more the merrier!!!

YIPPEE...that is fantastic. So in other words "Barbara, stop all of this stressing out and DO it!"

Red55, Your dr. must have been thrilled!!!! I used to be 251 ( in 1995)
had gastric bypass and, got down to 149. We had to move in with my MIL and she cooked and filled your plate..you ate it or else. I didn't have the courage to tell her no so I ate and got sick at both ends, and put the weight back on.

I got back upto 237, then in Jan. had to go into the hospital for a problem with my leg. (flesh eating bacteria) I don't know how much I lost in the hospital from the pain, not eating, sweats, etc. I was stuck in bed at home for months. When I got up I weighed in at 197 pounds. I'd gained weight back from whatever I had lost when in the hospital

I wish I had listened to my mom. She tried to tell me about Atkins then and I told her the dietician said NO diets, eat protein. DUH me! My fear is/was that I'd put the weight back on.

That is so great about your blood pressure. You will get off the meds. My husband did.

Becky Sue that goes for you too, the lowering of the bp meds. 74 pounds! Whooo hooo! If you can do it then I can?
Ok, I know what that saying means but why do you say it?

Those hot flashes are the pits. I'm also hot all the time. I would like to go off my HRT for the 2 weeks of induction to see what happens. I should ask the Dr. why can't the calcium supplements work on bones and get rid of the HRT.

I am so glad to hear of these weight losses and know it can be done. thank you so much
