  • I'm SO discouraged!!!

    Hi All,
I don't remember the last time I was here. My story goes like this.
In February of 2003 I started Atkins. I lost steadily until about September - 45 pounds lost. Went from 260 to 215.

At that point I began Walk Away the Pounds, 1 mile walk. I have continued doing this 5 and sometimes 6 days a week.

In November of '03 I stopped losing weight - COMPLETELY. I stayed with Atkins strictly until I became so discouraged when I went from 215 to 230.
    :-(

I have battled horrible skin problems, my hair is STILL falling out (I can FEEL the hairspray on my scalp when I spray it!) I am exhausted ALL the time - and admit that I just get so tired of trying and NOTHING happening.

I can still squeeze into my size 18 stretch jeans. But, some of my sweaters will not fit over my ever expanding tummy.

    HELP??????

    Thanks!
(My cutie Bear isn't true anymore :-( )

    Awww Darling,

I don't know what you are gripped by, but it's surely is not by grace.

Post everything you eat for the next five days - and I mean everything by weight or cup or tablespoon, etc. I need for you to be very very accurate, as well as your current weight and how much you exercise, this means time (how long your doing it for) and what exactly you are doing. Let's see if we can figure this one out!!!!!

If you are doing everything "right" you should be losing. Somewhere you are missing the boat and don't know it. Let's work this one together. I'll put in the effort if you will. I know how hard it is to be trying and trying and for nothing to be happening.....worse yet for things to be going sideways. :yikes Soooooo, if your on, I'm on! Let's do it!

I would also suggest a complete physical. Lots of times yeast or thyroid problems can cause the symptoms that you are describing. There is a section in DANDR about yeast.

We can control what goes in the body ;not always what goes on within the body. Definetly go to the doctor and get professional advice. Sometimes as the fat cells shrink they release stored toxins back into the blood and these can cause all type of reactions. Just a thought are you drinking enough? Any radical personal changes that may be stressing you?
Good luck and hang in there, you are worth it!

I agree that you need to track everything you eat--post it here, and get on Fitday (if you are back on Atkins, at any rate). Carb creep is very sneaky. So are calories, which, after a point, DO matter. I don't think the 1-mile WATP has much to do with it--it's not a muscle-building workout, neither is it excessive.

How long did the stopping last? I went through a stage where not only did I stop losing weight, but for three weeks in a row, I gained a half pound a week, though I wasn't doing anything wrong. But it passed, as all stalls eventually do.

If you take a close look at what you are doing and it's all just right and the stall lasted at least a month, then it may be metabolic or something else going on that you can't control. I agree, check with your doctor.

Have you had your thyroid checked? The syntoms you describe sound like you might be having problems with your thyroid. I have an underactive thyroid. Please take time and check it out with your Dr.
                Good Luck
