  • Never ending Plateau! Need Help!

:no Hi folks I am a newbie to this forum. I have been on Atkins since July 2003 and lost 25 lbs by February 04. Since then I have plateaued.

As I have just turned 50 this year and have been menopausal since I was 43 with the hot flashes, irritability, etc. and because the cancer scare came out about when I was discussing HRT with my doc, we decided to use low dose birthcontrol pills. Works fine for 3 out of 4 weeks.

Problem is the plateau. I would like to lose another 10 lbs to get to a BMI of 24. I have been religious about following the OWL program and it's getting very frustrating. I swim about 3 to 4 miles a week and walk/run my dog every day for 20 to 35 minutes, so it's not lack of exercise that's slowing my weight loss down.

Two weeks ago I decided to try Weight Watchers to see if I could lose any that way. No way. I gained five pounds in 10 days and was miserable with flatulance and food cravings that I hadn't experienced since being on Atkins.

Has anyone els been there? Got any suggestions from your own experience? I am 5' 1" and currently weigh 137 lb.

    Hi frustrated in canada!

You could try Stillman's. It is a very low carb, low fat plan. Basically you eat meat, fish, eggs. cream cheese (low fat) and that's it. I sometimes do it to break a stall and it works. I then go back to Atkins for the weekend before trying it again.
