  • Ladies and mascara

I was wondering this so I thought I would ask...

How many of you ladies over 50 wear mascara most every day?

My mother once told me that when you turned 50 you didn't wear
mascara because it made people notice your wrinkles more...just
use a eye liner. I would like to get your opinions!

Can you still wear lip gloss as 50?
I guess I am going to be a "young 50"!

I'm not in my 50's yet, but I think as you get older, you might even need mascara more as the lashes start to thin out. How about wearing it on only the upper lashes? I think wearing mascara on the lower lashes makes people look tired and droopy eyed anyway.

      Re: Ladies and mascara

I don't wear makeup very often. But I don't wear mascara because it makes my eyes burn, allergic reaction. Even the ones that say for sensitive skin/eyes. I use bareminerals foundation and eyeliner and that's it, when I do fix up a bit.

I hadn't heard that mascara made our wrinkles show up more, that's a funny one, IMO! HA HA!

My mom wears mascara everytime she puts on makeup, and she's 60. She doesn't look it though!

I'm not quite 50, but I wouldn't be caught dead without full makeup. Liner & mascara are a must for me because my lashes are blonde and my face just disappears without them. I admit, though, that I rarely wear anything on my lips. It's hard to find a good color with my hair & skin coloring. My DH hates it anyway. LOL!

Mascara? That's been out of my routine for over 10 years. As I hardly have any lashes left, just a liner pencil does the trick. My Grandmother and Mom didn't wear mascara as far back as I remember, either. The wrinkles show just fine without it! LOL

I wear it whenever I go out. My Mum does too, and she is 81! If you've got wrinkles, flaunt 'em I say. They are the visible evidence of your experience of life!

                Re: Ladies and mascara

I only wear mascara when I am going somewhere special, but only when I wear my contacts. It makes my lashes too long when I have on my glasses. I wear 'brown' so that it doesn't show as much.
