  • SOOOOO are ya feeling the pinch of Christmas goodies yet

Every where I go people are eating this sugar laden food, I am not, I am eating nuts but somedays too many. Who is coping with this, what are some of your strategies. I am not even baking this yr, I bought some goodies for when son and gf come here for holidays as I dont eat store bought goodies but love the homemade ones.

Wellll! I made some pumpkin custard for my breakfast. I only allow myself nuts on the week ends. I made some cream cheese and walnut candy yesterday and when it was gone- that was it. Today I still had the craving and that is why the pumpkin custard. I just had a nice crunchy tuna and celery salad for lunch. I find that protein helps me satisfy the cravings. I bought a nice little book Saturday." Extreme low carb meals on the go" by Sharron Long. It has some nice dessert recipes and all of them are less than 5 carbs a serving. I am planning to make a few of these to have on hand. This is my planned strategy. I am preparing because I am a reformed sugarholic and I know I had better have my self ready for Xmas. I got through Halloween & Thanksgiving just great. Two down and one to go.

        Hi Canuck,
The candy I make by combining 2 oz. cream cheese,1/4 oz baking chocolate,1 T. splenda briefly heating in mico on defrost then mixing in crushed walnuts. Sometimes I can wait to eat till I make teaspoon drops and cool in frig.

Making homemade cookies has always been a big deal here -- from my grandmother, to my mother, and then passed down to me. I think last year I made close to 100 dozen cookies....for relatives, neighbors, co-workers, the mail person, etc. The passing out of cookie containers has been an annual event my entire life.

Not this year This year my Christmas present to myself is all that extra time I will have pre-Christmas by not having to spend two solid weeks making cookies!! And the obvious present of not EATING at least 2-3 of each batch to "make sure they're OK"...

This year I found a very sweet small lidded jar at a local discount store - bought a ton of them - and filled them with Christmas potpourri, wrapped some ribbon & greens around the top of the jar -- and it will be the present to pass out.

DH's birthday is the 14th -- he's agreed to a crustless cheesecake in place of birthday cake. For Christmas dinner we will have another cheesecake --maybe with some berry toppings.

I will miss my Ghiardelli chocolate DH puts in my stocking each year -- but I won't miss all those pounds the chocolate and cookies put on me!

Yeah, I am kind of proud of it -- and also of DH's (he's 5 lbs from goal!). I just realized yesterday we've been doing this for almost a year now -- time sure went by fast! I hope to reach my goal weight by my birthday in May...

I just ordered a new digital camera -- we'll get some pics up of both of us as soon as it comes in!

That sunset (and mountain!) is GORgeous... Gosh I miss that kind of landscape. I'm a native New Hampshire-ite, transplanted 18 years ago to flat ol' Ohio... the highest "peak" around here is the landfill...ugh.

Yes, I'm on OWL...modified OWL. I've gone up to the 4th rung, but I try and keep my carbs under 25 a day.

Congrats to your DH! I can't imagine doing this without mine He's such a great support system -- and it makes it easier to go out and eat -- we don't have to fight over restaurants! LOL

yes I would find it hard if he still ate sweets etc. he cooks Atkins and watches tv cook shows, lots are low carb shows now on cooking and is more adventerous in cooking than me, so its just the way we live now.
