One of the many reasons I'm getting back into top flight shape is that we adopted a baby from China about 5 years ago and I'm scared to death about letting her down in oh so many facets of life. Not the least of which is having at least one parent physically active and able enough to keep pace with a little bundle of nonstop energy.
Then of course there's social pressure on a child eventually regarding her parents appearance. Nobody wants to be ashamed of their parents for any obvious reason, much less the inevitable ones that are coming with teenage angst.
Having parents who are of grandparent age and a different race/facial structure will be problems enough for anyone. I won't add to the pile...absolutely refuse. I *will* be the best I can be at all ages. Not that this makes one a better human/parent or anything important, but it's just one less thing for a child to be aggravated about in their lives....and every one thing I can subtract is fine with me.
This is almost equivalent to that old saw about being "half the man my dog thinks I am..."
