  • 50th b-day gift....I need help!

    Hey friends,

I am getting my 50th birthday gift early this year--my own treadmill!

BUT...I have to spend under $1,000 and don't know if I can get a decent
one for that little money. I wil be the only one on it and am 165 right now
so its not going to hold a ton of anything--But I don't want an exercise anything with problems. I went to the site Dr. treadmill and probably learned too much about many brands and the parts that are shoddy from overseas.
Seems you need to spend at least double what I can to get just a decent
treadmill. I'm really depressed about it cause I have wanted one for so long now

Can anyone give me some positive vibes about this situation and maybe a brand name or two I could look for. Did anyone get a extra warranty with theirs or wish they had?

I have searched the web till I'm blue in the face and now I need some
product info from you all that I can trust. Please help if you can.

    Thank You-Pie4me

Have you checked Sears? They always have them on sale, and they do carry some nice ones.

Hello Pieforme, Yes, dream is right . I've seen some exercise equipment in Sears that seems very reasonably priced. Haven't checked out the treadmills, but I know I saw a set of weights that were advertised on T.V. for TWICE the price Sears was asking for them. And, they looked like the same model. Do you have a Sears in your area?

Do people still buy new exercise equipment? =D

So many good deals out there on used treadmills, often these thigns are like brand new. I'd check classifieds, Craig's List etc.. or even just ask around work or your friends.

Yes... people buy exercise equipment, use it for a little while then get bored. Plenty of good deals to be had buying second hand online.

Where do you find the best second hand online exercise equipment?

I always gravitate to eBay and Amazon...but use the Italian versions to buy from sellers in this country, usually. You'll probably get better suggestions from others living in the States.

I got my treadmill and I am finally happy!

Yes, Sears did have their Nordictrac treadmills for sale this weekend and they were cheap enough that I bought a nice 3 year extended warranty protection and still did well. I wanted MY own nice new one as I think when one turns 50 one should get exactly what the h*ll they want..don't you???LOL Hopefully mine won't be in a yard sale any time soon, but if it is I will let you guys know.

HI, I have a wonderful treadmill I purchased from Sears a few years back. It s a Proform 550 I believe and it has programs on it calorice info, Bp info, etc. I have been using it, mya daughter and occasionaly my husband. It works great, I belive i paid somewhere around 600.00 for it and I heartily endorse this brand; it's made by Nordic Track
