Well, starting Induction during the holidays, while not the most ideal time, was a great boost to my determination. I think I have lost 6 pounds so far. I have the ketosis strips but as yet have only been registering at the small color. What is the trick to getting them to high? I would also like some suggestions for menus during induction. I'm so grateful for this forum. I am over 50 and female. I need to lose 100 pounds. This is my first posting. Any help and/or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Motivated. :icondance

Hi, Motivated, and welcome to ADBB!
You might want to check in with the Century Club forum, too -- it's very active in there and also a great group of folks.
Don't worry about the color on your strips. It's like a pregnancy test -- you are or you aren't
ANY color is fine. The more water you drink, the lighter the color will be. So long as you have color, you're doing great!
Three suggestions to get your Induction menu ideas: First, check out our recipes sections -- just make sure that all the foods in a recipe are included in the Acceptable Foods List -- some recipes may be for OWL or later stages of Atkins.
Next, we often have a thread called WHAT'S FOR DINNER and that's where we all post what we're planning to eat that night. Great ideas there.
Lastly, someone else asked this question just a short time ago. Here's a link to the responses:
My biggest suggestion? Print off that Acceptable Foods List and don't eat ANYTHING that's not on it!! Makes life so much easier
Keep us posted on how you're doing!

Hi motivated! :wave
Welcome to
ha
I am a 50 yr. old female also. As Joan suggested, come on over to the Centry Club and join our TDL exercise challenge. We will help you with the mandatory exercise part of Dr. Atkins' diet! Have you read the book, Dr. Atkins' New Diet Revolution, 2002 edition yet? Well, come on over to the Book Club challenge. It starts next Monday 1-10-05. We will be reading the book and discussing the chapters. Should be lots of fun.
Glad to "meet" ya.

Welcome, excellent info above but don’t leave us too....LOLOLO.
I restarted induction in holidays as was carb creeping and it felt good to do, am down 5 lbs regained so feel good about that.
The stix don’t work for all, my hubby lost 65 lbs and stix never turned purple at all.
Must use them same time every day, they will be darker in am and not correct reading as fasted all night so they suggest about 2 hr after a meal and then same time. They are not effective if in menses. I called manufacturer when I started about 17 months ago to get the scoop.
However, you will tell ketosis by taste in mouth, foul breath and best advice I got was to take my measurements, as scale is often a lair at some stages.
Hang around enjoy the board; there is a ton of excellent information.
By the way Joan you look awesome, what a difference!!!!!goodonyagirl!!!is this a different picture??

Gosh, I hope that cold really helps with weight loss. North Dakota is home for me, and it gets cold here sometimes too. (But not as cold as Canada). Must be something about shivvvvvvvvverrrrrrrrring that helps out-keeping the core temp warm burns more calories???

Re: Getting Started
Hi,
Today was my first day. It was a terrific day....until now...
There has to be away around this craving for something sweet and/or made with flour.
How did you make it past the craving's? Or did you have any?
BTW am I allowed on this forum?

Good to see you here
I found that if I had high-fat snacks prepared in the fridge I could grab one whenever cravings showed their ugly faces!! Devilled eggs or ham/cheese rollups or cream cheese spread onto celery did it for me.Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!
Check out our Low Carb Recipes website and add to it!!
