  • Age limits set in stone?

Hey everyone, just wondering if 48 going on 49 in two weeks is old enough to belong to this forum? Menopause is a thing of the past - hot flashes finally cooled down (THANK GOD!!!) Would be nice to talk to women and men from the same generation - :wave

Of course not, mainly this forum is for those of us going thru those stages of life in this approx age group, hot flashers welcome, it was nice to curl today as I was so hot and the rink was so cold as with wind chill it was equal to minus 43 and it is women’s league Monday morning so big joke is how we all go out on ice in light sweaters and soon have them all off whereas when we curl mixed the men all have big jackets on. LOL
    Welcome.

Lady Rider, I don't want to tell you this, but don't be surprised if the hot flashes start over again.
When the fat starts to leave the cells, it pulls any leftover estrogen in there along with it. I was years without hot flashes and started all over again. :raving :raving :raving

What your Doctor may not tell you about menopause by Dr John Lee is excellent book, often it can be estrogen dominance as well...........darn

          Hey, LadyRider - welcome!

My older sister is a nurse and told me a few years ago that heavy women don't experience menopause symptoms (hot flashes, night sweats, etc.) to the degree that thinner women do. Well, I'm here to tell you -- she was RIGHT. I began menopause about 4 years ago and thought it was a breeze! Now that I've lost weight, I'm going through ALL the symptoms to the Nth degree -- to make up for those 4 years I guess!

Yesterday in the middle of an aerobics class, I could feel a hot flash coming on -- sure enough, I started sweating, my face turned red, and I was ready to peel off the skimpy tshirt I had on! The instructor came over and asked if I needed to rest! LOL Nope -- just ignore me, I'm having a hot flash AGAIN. Argh!

            Geez Lynne and Joan,
Last thing I needed today was to hear that those dreaded hot flashes might come back. Mom said that she had it easy so I am hoping for that.

Determined to lose this weight even if it means :burn

Hi, I too am 48 and have found that after doing the atkins WOE for the last 5 months, the perimenopause symptoms I had been experiencing (flashing, mood swings, sleep disturbances, food cravings) for about 2 years have lessened! My energy levels have greatly improved. Also, daily exercise seems to help with those symptoms.

This WOL has so many benefits!
