Any more Redhatter Xmas pics?

Hi all!

So I wondered how many of you other Red Hat ladies have festivities planned with your chapter?

I finally managed to attend another Red Hat meeting (most are when I am at work ) which was our Christmas lunch at a local hotel.

Here we all are, the Scarlett Belles of Bournemouth, after the meal



It was great fun and as well as chatting, eating and generally enjoying ourselves we all brought a gift worth up to £3.00 (about $6) which we tied long ribbons to and dropped in a large Santa sack then took turns in pulling out a ribbon and unwrapping our present!

I would have loved to pick my own present (it was a brand new red evening bag that I had bought at a charity shop for £1.00!!) but instead pulled out a pack of pretty 'greetings cards for all occasions' which will be very useful.

I had bought a lovely new hat (a short top hat) for the do and wore my new purple leather gucci-like jacket and trousers together with matching purple handbag and shoes.



I had lots of compliments for my outfit and really felt good!

I'd love to hear any more Red Hat reports!

Oh! Elizellen! You look beautiful! The hat is so cute! We have those societies here! They go all over the place doing things! That's so great that they are also in the UK! I'm still in my 40's... so not there yet. But that looks very very fun!

The Red Hat society seems like so much fun. I had to go to the hospital a while back and my nurse was a Red Hat lady, and she was telling me all about their planned event. They had rented a limo and made reservations at a restaurant, and were then going to go watch the Vagina Monologues! Sounded like so much fun.

Liz you look fantastic. Your group looks like a bunch of great people!! I'm so happy you shared this. I've wondered if you were still active in the group. I am no longer a RED HATTER, but I want to someday get back with them. That was always a dream of mine and I enjoyed it so much when I was one. Keep posting your photos of your get-to-gethers, I love seeing them.

Thank you everyone for your kind compliments! I havent been able to revisit this thread till today and am blushing bright red as I read them all - you are all so kind

I am sorry you are no longer a Redhatter, Becky, but I know with your new job you would probably have had no time to attend get-togethers anyway

Miss Phode - you are not the first to think a gaggle of oldish ladies wearing red hats/purple dresses and acting daft are an oddity! We get many surprised looks and comments when out on the razzle, but dont worry about it!

Sally, the hat is my all-time favourite and is a one-of-a-kind I was told by the gent in the hat shop! It is officially called a 'short top hat' and was made for a theatrical event which folded before the opening night. My husband told me off for wrapping the ribbon round the band, as he thinks it spoils its elegance - but when you are red-hatting you are not supposed to look 'sensible'!!

Valid and sherri - I seem to have turned into a 'leather-fetishist', as all my new outfits are leather!

I am lucky to be a friend of the 'Leather Lady' as I have christened her, who we met many years ago when I took an internet-bought full length black leather trenchcoat to be altered. I had to order a large mens size to get the bust measurement and of course the hips were way too small (kind of broad in the shoulders and narrow in the hips, as the song goes) but Jan was not fazed and altered it to fit my size 32 UK body!

As far as I know she is the only leather-worker in the area who is willing to alter stuff not originally sold by her, and is also able to copy old favourites which have worn out or are wanted in a different colour leather (which is where she got the pattern for my jacket)

Since then she has made me several leather coats, trousers and skirts, most of which have needed to be smallerized to match my shrinking frame (now a size 14 UK). That reminds me, I still have some that need taking in so will need to visit her again soon.

This latest purple tour-de-force is my favourite and I have even had her make me an extra pair of identical trousers so when the first pair wears out I shall still be able to wear that terrific jacket with the second pair.

You do look absolutely amazing...Red Hat Society is huge here in our little Southern Town...surprised to hear in the UK also...Funny...I always thought it was a Southern thing...Where did the Society originate from? enlighten me please!...again you look amazing!
