  • Sneaking in....

.... I can't believe it, but I qualify to be here now. I was 50 on Friday last. Can't say I am thrilled about it, but as my father (who's 86) told me, it beats the alternative.

    So hi
    Kate

Welcome to the fabulous fifty-plus corner of ADBB

As your Dad said - it might not be the most looked-forward-to period of life but it definitely beats the other option

Like Sunny, I didnt start Atkineering till I was over 50 (52 in fact) but now I am more active and generally 'alive' than I was in my thirties and forties.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I'm with Elizellen. I was very unactive till I hit 49. Thats when I began the weight loss and I haven't looked back or stopped to think about my age since. You are only as old as you feel is so true. Happy Birthday and welcome to the 50 + forum ~ there are a lot of cool people in here, I'm sure you'll love it.

Welcome to our youthful corner of the ADBB Kate!
You might not be thrilled - neither was I at first - but I'm sure you'll find that the fifties will turn out to be just as good, if not better, than the forties, thirties etc. Not to say most of us wouldn't go back a few years if we could... just that they really can be the Fabulous Fifties too!

Welcome to the fabulous 50's! You already look younger than you did a few months ago when you were 49! I'm just waiting for the day that I am able to keep up with my 84-year-old sister!

          Happy Birthday!

          Sunny!

            Thank you all!!

I really was a bit depressed about that birthday, but I'm getting over it - a lot of friends and people called and visited on the day and it was actually a fun day which helped.

I think I was only just getting used to the idea of being in my forties in the last few months, so it seemd to rush up on me!! You're right though, I feel better and have more energy now than I've had since I was in my early thirties!!

Hi Kate and welcome to the fifth decade --from just glancing at your siggy in the past I thought you were 58 but now realize that like me you were born in 58. A very good year!!

Like you, I feel much better physically and spiritually since finding this WOE 4 months ago--it made turning 50 2 months ago somewhat less traumatic and I agree with your dad, it DOES beat the alternative.

You look really nice in your pictures and as Sunny said, you do look quite a bit younger in the more recent ones.
