I asked Tom to put a sub-forum under Health for Arthritis. I have been working hard on weight loss to take some of the strain off of my joints, while dealing with Arthritis issues as well. He was kind enough to start the subforum but said new forums are often a problem if not used. So I hope those of you who have arthritis will join me in posting in that forum often so it will stay active.

        Re: Arthritis

I do have it. It runs in my family too. Two years ago I started running, and after 2 month I had to crawl to the doctor. Took me a year to fix my hip ( somehow only my right hip was hurting pretty bad).. pain all day and night.... could not sleep could not climb stairs could not even drive

So.. no more running for me and have to stick with just walking..

          Arthritis - Atkins Diet

Thanks Sally! We are exchanging some helpful information I think!

          Dui,

I hope you will join us in posting in the subforum (link above). All new information exchanged is helpful.
I can really identify with what you said as I once had to spiderwalk up the steps to the doctors office when his elevator wasn't working and my knee wasn't either!

Osteoarthritis is just like you said. it often affects only one joint for no understandable reason!

From my own experience, I can tell you there is hope. I once thought I was headed for a wheelchair but now I am jazzercising one to two hours a day and recently went hiking and rock scrambling. I've never had surgery though I was told I needed it, but I have been losing weight, exercising and using a hinged knee brace when needed.
          Best wishes!
