  • Check in,

    I'm persistent if nothing else.

    Good morning.

I looked at the calendar and I have nothing going on this weekend. and its 9 in the morning and I am still in my bathrobe.
The sun is out so I'm going to head to the wildlife refuge and take a walk. I love it out there, the air is fresh and I always see something new. They have a 1 mile and 3 mile and a 5.5 mile hike but I think Ill just do a mile plus. The arthritis in my foot is really acting up.

Which reminds me, if anyone has feet problems, check out those drug stores that sell special shoes. You don't have to pay a podiatrist and they fit you with some awesome shoes.

    Re: Check in,

I'm here too. I've had a busy day so far but now I have to take time to lift weights and do my last ab routine for this month.

Thanks for starting the tread, Desertthorn!

      Re: Check in,

Desertthorn, I also LOVE to walk. We like to camp a lot, and my favorite part is exploring the hiking trails.

But I have foot problems that make walking too far painful. I've bought all the best athletic shoes and inserts, but never even thought of having a drug store fit me.

I will put that on my list to do before summer!

        Re: Check in,

Sunny-one, I had major foot problems too and 2 years ago had both my feet reconstructed. I had been told for years that there was nothing they could do for me so I had to just live with the pain. But I found a doctor who actually x-ray my feet, none of the other ones had, and they found the problem and fixed it. I recommend that if nothing else helps you, have your feet x-rayed. I am so glad I did because now my feet are fine and pain-free.

          Re: Check in,

blueberrylady, I had my feet xrayed 6 years ago and they found two neuromas.

I no longer have insurance, so can't have the surgery done, but very careful fitting of orthotic inserts makes a big difference. Maybe they can do that at the drugstore.

I also think getting this excess weight off my feet will help.

            Re: Check in,

Darn, the lady I went to see at the drug store had a big old long title and gave me her card, both of which I have forgotten, but she didn't charge me for a thing, except very expensive shoes, (Brooks) which I have found cheaper elsewhere and inserts which I haven't found elsewhere. But she spent a good 45 minutes fitting the shoes and while I still have issues, it's nothing like it was before.

              Re: Check in,

Desertthorn, years ago when I was hiking, I discovered that having someone who knows how to fit shoes and inserts is worth paying a lot more for the shoes.

There is a drugstore in our town that has a sign outside advertising diabetes shoes, so I imagine they would have, or could order, something suitable. I just hope they also have a good fitter!
