    I'm starting again with 90 lbs to go at 56(i don't look that old...but they also said i don't look that heavy!!!!). Hey.....let's show em what all us old farts can do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hey Repo -- welcome back!!! I agree, us "old farts" are burning up the track here! Good luck to you -- Here is a little information I hope will refresh your memory and help get you going again. Stay away from the shakes and bars (they are NOT legal on induction) - eat a variety of foods, get your fats, carbs and protein in daily, drink plenty of pure water (nothing added), take your supplements and exercise. Check the STAC for additional support Second Time Around Club - Atkins Diet. We also have challenges for members to join, some are exercise related and some aren’t. Also start a journal and post your thoughts along the way. Also check out the "Over 50" area -- we are a small group but we try to post and keep each other going.

        Well, hey now - how old is old farts? I just turned forty! I feel like an old fart sometimes. Especially, when my teens roll their eyes at me. Oh, Mom, so stupid. No, they don't say it, but... oh, they are.

        1st goal: 139 (earlier weight)
        what the rungs mean to me:
        rung 1 - more veggies
        rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
        rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
        rung 4 - berries, melon
        rung 5 - wine -
        rung 6 - beans, hummus
        rung 7 - other fruits
        rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
        rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
        Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
        (on to pre-maintenance)

                it's saturday and a new day...going to the gym, ate my eggs......meditated, visulized, used some positive reinforcement(most of my problem is mental because i've done sooooooo maney diets and have lost wieght and then put it back on). this forum is something i need to look at every am to start my day!!!! funny i'm listening to the radio and early Chicago from the 70's(i think i remember the early 70's) and the song was Beginnings and they kept repeating" only the beginning,,,only the beginning" i take that as a sign.......LET'S ROCK AN ROLL!!!!!!!

                  I agree with you repoman, because most of my problem is mental too. I just started back to meditation and visualization and am hoping to get my head back around this dieting thing. Here's wishing us both luck!

                    I listen to 70's music when I'm exercising --- that's the best tempo to do things. My Zen is filled with Disco, Rock, Country, Pop -- you name it, if it was 70's it's on there!!

                    I'm glad you come here everyday and have it help get your day started!! The people here are so wonderful - I don't think I could do this if not for them!!

                      thanks for all the thoughts and encouragement....today is the day...no more excuses(and it's going beautifully)reading Excuses,Begone....wow mindexpanding....it really deals with patterns of thinking and me.....if I can just keep feeding that space between my ears(proteins and fats of course lol) all will be well within my world,,,,,,

                        I was strolling through the local drug store the other day and ran across some Atkins bars. I had no intention of buying them, but i still read the label and was confused. The front label stated X amount of net carbs. The nutrition label on the back showed a very high amount of carbs, and even when you subtracted the few grams of fiber shown, there was a big difference between the net carbs on the front label and the nets carbs resulting from the nutrition label on the back. Did you ever notice that? Do you know why?

                          I think it's the sugar alcohols. I've had both the Atkins bars & shakes when I first started low carbing two years ago. Soooo many fake ingredients and all that soy. Geez. I didn't know any better back then though. Anyways, they always made me ravenous shortly after I consumed them, so how good is that??? Now I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole.

                            repoman left the building long ago -- this is an old thread.

                            It is the sugar alcohols among other frankenfood ingredients in them. I bought a couple boxes for my mom and tried one of each before I started Atkins - they were the nastiest things to try and eat - I spit them out and threw them away. The real way of following Atkins is full of wonderful tastes -- this crap is just that -- C R A P!!!

                            Ok - we'll leave repoman to whatever he's been doing all these months and won't bother his thread again.
