  • Question

I like the Atkins Protein Bars and the Shakes, but they very hight in carbs
    and sugar.
I try to stick with 25-30 gr. of carbs.
If I have a Bar or a Shake (19gr. carb) then I don't have many carbs
    left for the day, right????
Even if it says 2gr. net carbs I still consume 19 gr. of carbs, right??

    Re: Question

Hi Tequilla! We follow Dr. Atkins advice from his DANDR 2002 book not what the new Atkins dot com commercial website says. Their goal is to sell products, not really promote healthy living.

Anyways, according to Dr. Atkins, we shouldn't be having bars/shakes during Induction as most of our carbs should be coming from veggies. HTH

        Re: Question

It's best to do a clean induction -- if a food isn't listed on the acceptable food list you shouldn't be eating it. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.com/forums/atkins-low-carb-dieting-faqs/6781-what-foods-can-eaten-induction.html).

Also make sure you are drinking a minimum of 64 ounces pure water daily -- nothing else counts but pure water - after you get your water in you can drink tea or coffee or something else (no caffeine).

        Good luck to you.

          Re: Question

In spite of what the bars say (and Atkins Nutritionals, who are a business geared to selling their product), you should look at the ingredients list. It any ingredient is not induction legal then steer clear of it.

Also... the bars and shakes are known stallers for many. You'd be wise to incorporate them only for emergencies and when you are high on the OWL ladder.

Fresh and unprocessed foods are the safest way to ensure success with Atkins.
