I read your post "I feel like crap!!!!!!!!!! Day 12" back in Sept. Are you still here and if so..how's it going? How was your Induction? I was happy to read that you are a doctor who believes in Atkins. Somewhere I will find an Atkins-educated/Atkins-friendly doc...here in California. What are your feelings a/b estrogen supplements and their effect on weight loss? Is 1mg enough to effect my weight loss efforts?
I am a returning Atkins Dieter. I read the book in "99. I My goal was 20 lbs. I lost 8 lbs...then stopped because I got discouraged when my weigt loss stalled. I wasn't very diligent or conscientious back then. I'm back again....18 days into Induction and I think I have lost a/b 2 lbs. I'm 57. It's harder to lose weight now that I'm older. Yup!...everything changes.
This is what amazes me about Atkins: 1) My appetite is much more normal.. sometimes I have to remind myself to eat. On higher carb, low fat diet, I was hungry every 2 -2 1/2 hours. It's amazing how different I feel. 2) I never crave sweets. I used to really need to have something sweet after meals. 3) My acid-reflux is gone! 4) I am not-so-slow-moving in the morning like I used to be. Anyway, I'm bummed that Dr. Atkins died. I think it would be great to have him update his book. I think people would be more open now... to his incredible medical breakthroughs. Okay..hope you're out there. Veronica

I agree... the loss of Dr A was a tragedy on so many more levels than the usual.
