I'm 57 and I'm post menopausal. My doc. recommends that I stay on my daily 1mg of estradiol. She is a purist and tests me often. She doesn't believe in conventional drugs. She has written several books on HRT, and a couple other books a/b the pharmaceutical (sp?) industry. She says there is no proven direct link between estrogen and weight gain or ability to lose weight. My estradiol has helped in these specific ways: my skin is more supple. I have reduced my hot flashes to virtually none. Anxiety levels are down. I take Prometrium (progesterone) twelve days out of the month. It helps with anxiety. It is "dreamy" for sleeping and I understand it helps prevent thickening of the uterine walls. Anyway, my weight loss is always slow, even with considerable exercise. I'm wondering if anyone has eliminated estrogen and then began losing more weight. Any successful supplememts for estrogen? Experienced comments would be greatly appreciated.
