  • Hello fellow 50+ What would you say is your best tip?

    Hi everyone. Day 2 of Atkins - Have struggled like everyone else and have been on most diet programs out there. The most recent... Weight Watchers. (unfortunately, didn't work for me) Anyway, the one thing I really enjoyed was when our group would come together and we shared tips for succeeding. Sometimes, it's the littlest thing... but a brilliant idea.
    Anything to make life on the program a little easier.

    Hi Raina,

    TIP #1 Why don't you start a journal, since you are just starting out your weight loss and journey to good health?

    TIP #2 Follow the plan. Focus on your goal. Plan ahead for ALL situations.

    TIP #3 Reread all of the things everyone told you yesterday, maybe copy and paste them to a Word Doc to keep for yourself. You got a lot of good advice yesterday, especially to help you through Induction.

    TIP #4 Remember what I told you yesterday:

    Read the book, follow the plan well, think of it as a way of eating for life, not a quick fix diet, and you will find there is no more fighting. After you get accustomed to the plan, the food choices, your water, exercise, tracking your net carbs (try fitday.com)---it will become so easy and natural, you will forget how you ate in the past and you will find yourself very happy with the results.

        Think hard about if Atkins is how you want to eat for the rest of your life (that means reading about maintenance ... since Atkins is MORE than Induction) ... and if the answer is yes, then decide that.

        It also helped me to accept that how I used to eat was in the past.

          But induction is the hardest part to get through.... it's a total overhaul from the way most people with a weight issue have been eating.

            Raina,

            Remember one of my tips..."Relax"? I really feel a lot of tenseness coming from you, and that is really not necessary. I don't want you to stress yourself straight to a "bad place."

            What are a couple of things that seem to be giving you the most trouble? Maybe we can "troubleshoot" for you.

            And don't forget, it takes a while for your body to adjust.

              Raina,
              Why don't you try a very pure induction the next two weeks and then make your decision. Then you will have a good idea of how it works for you. We are at a very similiar stage weightwise and I just posted a note on the previous thread about my 14 days. Hope it is some help to you. Read these boards whenever you feel low and I bet you make it fine.
